They established that Peter had been pulling his punches way back in the Lee/Ditko era, when Peter was still growing and not as strong as he is now. He'd often have inner-monologues where he'd mention he was pulling his punches when fighting goons. He even had a boxing match with Flash Thompson where he worked out that he had to flick his wrist in order to throw a punch that wouldn't demolish him.

And early in J. Michael Straczynski's run, when Peter's working out his feelings (MJ had left him not long ago, he got fired from his job at the Bugle, all the usual "Parker luck" stuff), he stops by a building that's scheduled for demolition and punches a few walls - to dust. Just about the time he realizes the building's about to collapse, the union demolition crew rolls up. "Okay, guys, let's get busy - this thing has to be down by the end of the day!" "Okay, that's lunch!"

And I recall seeing a few pages after he first realizes his strength and goes to an abandoned factory with steel pipes lying around. After a few test punches, he realizes he can go all out and starts demolishing all the pipes. After a few minutes of caving in inch-thick steel like aluminum cans without hurting his hands, he realizes how much damage he could do to people if he wasn't careful.

Seeing both Shocker and Peter quiping off of each other was actually pretty great and funny to see. Usually it was just Peter doing the quips, in a way you can kinda see Shocker teaching Peter how this villain/heroing life works and I love that.

The great things about this comic are Peter spending a month getting used to becoming Spider-Man; J. Jonah Jameson and Uncle Ben are talking to each other about J. Jonah drinking breakfast and coffee for 25 years, the appearance of Spider-Man, and the Daily Bugle; Peter facing Shocker; and Peter revealing his secret to his daughter May, causing her to make a drawing a him as Spider-Man to make sure that Peter will try and become a better hero as Spider-Man.

I think it’s more accurate to say Peter pulling his punches is a restoration of old character traits rather than a recent addition. If I recall correctly in his fight(s) with hulk he usually makes reference to not needing to hold back, or hulk calls Spider-Man strong for a puny bug. There was also that early iconic scene where he literally finds the strength to lift an entire building off his back by shaking off his anxiety and self-doubt.

This universe, unlike the main continuity, will be different also because Peter's kids are normal kids without superpowers. When Peter had kids in other occasions/realities, he had been Spider-Man since his adolescence, thus his kids inherited his abilities. But here not only is he a naive beginner in his thirties, but he had his kids when he was still a normal human, so...this will make things more difficult for him and more interesting for the story. But it will give more meaningful moments like this one here with May.

Another great issue so far. Amazing how the family element makes Peter Parker such a better character overall! Love that the idea for the red and blue design came from May in this story. Hope he doesn't get the 616 treatment and that this story will stick around for a good while without some multiversal event getting rid of it all.

I saw Jason Patrick in a 90s Alamo movie where he played Jim Bowie, and he was I guess supposedly in a relationship with the sexy Senorita in the movie. His Bowie was a dark, troubled character, and he was dressed in this dark, swashbuckler type of outfit on I think and immediately I thought Zorro.😆 He would have made a nice Zorrro had they made a movie with him cast as the character.😄

When it comes to Miles, I think its better if down the line we get a miniseries called Ultimate Spider-Men, where we see Miles crossover to the new Ultimate Universe and meet 6160 Peter Parker, akin to the original Spider-Men miniseries by where the original 616 Peter Parker met Miles Morales before the latter transferred over to the main Marvel universe

yes, the maker traveled to this universe in pursuit of weaving it under his control and removed the catalysts for some heroes origin stories, including peter never getting bit by the spider. brand new ultimate universe, only real connection is that the maker is from the original ultimate universe which is now destroyed, besides that, brand new.

Tbh I don’t got anything against him but he’s getting a lot of attention already and I’d rather Peter just get the focus in this universe since he’s in the position where he needs it. Also I think people treat miles like this certainty in every universe and adaptation of Spiderman now and I still think he works best as he did in the bendis run.

Haven't read this yet. Is Pete a teacher in this one? IF so, have (non-powered) Miles be a student of Pete's. Build a mentor-mentee relationship with Miles eventually learning about Pete's other identity. Maybe throw in some stuff about Miles providing cover for Pete before Peter finds out that Miles knows. When Miles eventually gets bit they grow into a Batman/Nightwing sort of relationship until Pete retires and Miles takes over, eventually training May (or better yet, continuing to train May).

After the whole king in black arch where we discovered Peter was supposed to be the king in black after changing the venom symbiote but Eddie took over after venom was rejected by Peter. It would be so awesome to see a universe where Peter and venom became the king in black. Seeing Pete get thrown across the city from Shocker is hilarious 😂 that’s one of my favorite things about Spider-Man just because he can dodge it and have spidey sense he can also just tank insane damage 😂 I love when Spider-Man just brushes off damage or attacks or uses them to increase his momentum is just awesome. But it’s funny when Peter just falls for that again and again but also May drawing a spider for her dad is so cute 🥺🫶🏻

My marriage in 1990 put an end to my comic reading and collecting. I know you're referencing current events in current comics, but I seem to remember a comic where Peter went to Reed Richards to ask him to help get rid of his powers. Reed straps him down to his underwear and places him in some kind of bacteria tank, and all of the other Fantastic Four team see him and can't believe what's going on. Fast forward to somehow the tank being broken (I believe by one of the Four) to help battle Firelord, a herald of Galactus. Peter is so pissed off that his treatment was destroyed that he single-handedly beat the crap out of Firelord. So much so, that the Fantastic Four were begging him to stop beating him out of fear that he'd kill him. THAT was pretty bad ass, and the first time I saw Spider-Man not hold back on his punches.

Anytime I see One More Day mentioned in a Spiderman series, it ties back to the deal to erase his daughter (May) which I am fine with, but Peter is forever tied to those words with his kid in the conversation and his family. In this universe she determined the colors and pattern of his new suit the legacy goes to her vision. Maybe she won't inherit his powers now, as for Fisk what is his power here, he is a figurehead but, in his mind, and body he is till the King Pin, he is capable of drawing up a new version, planted at the top now he has to maintain it.
