The corn discarded is the outside shell. Seems they eat the inside softer part and discard the outer hull. I have a corn cob feeder and lots of discarded hulls at the base of my cedar tree.

The food of squirrels is nuts. They have to eat lots of corn to get as much nutrition, that moldy corn is worse. I have some squirrels under my eaves on the old roof under the new. Comfy place, I have 3 camerae closed circuit analog TV. They take naps in the daytime, at night they have to get up and 'go' outside. Then they come right back in, do a little pair preening and back to sleep. They have been screened off from the attic.

how high is the squirrel house ? do they nest in there ? or just grab food and run?

I need a house as big as yours, did u make yours? The ones I see are small and I have a few and wouldn't think 3 would fit for winter time?? Don't want to leave any out!!
