I have items grouped together as they are grouped in the collection tab. It makes it easier for me to remember. This video is a great idea if you want to hoard even more items. I hope we can color code chests in the future. I think that would be helpful.

Someone said just put one item in a chest like all the garnet in one chest and then place a garnet gem above it on it a table above the garnet chest then you can remember that garnets are in that chest

The counters is a great idea! I have a similar crafting/cooking room set up, but without the counters I never know what chest stuff goes in and I always end up opening all of them.

Dang, you have so many more materials than me!!! I keep my stone and stuff like that in my biggest chest, and for my smaller chests I “label” them with the posters you get for leveling up your friendships. The Wall-e one is vegetables, Remy is fruits, herbs, and the items you can buy from the restaurant, and the Moana one is fish. 😅

@@BarbsCozyCorner Was just using this guide to get organized in my game (thanks for the tips, btw) and discovered that if you pick up your household storage chest and bring it to Scrooge, you can buy more and they will *all* have as many rows of storage as the first one! Maybe this is well known, but… game changer!

I too have my gems seperated by shiny and non-shiny but organized in rainbow order. I use the same colour-coded system for my flowers. The food chests, I organize by type (fruit, veg etc.) in alphabetical order but have been contemplating leaving the fish chests at Moanas boat so I can just collect and drop as I don't really fish unless it's a required task. That leaves my main chest for all the crafting supplies I pick up. :)

You can also clone your house chest with Scrooge. I have one in every biome. With the bigger size I have lots of things that I want to access easily everywhere

I use mine for flowers, that way I can dump them any time I want. I found flowers were the most pain to organize, so I opted to sacrifice my house chest and put a copy in every biome lol. I imagine it works very well for doing that with just about anything that is convenient for you. :)

Thanks for the nice set up. I totally stole this for my house. Another tip I have been doing is buying a few of the chests that share an inventory. I forget what they are called. I have placed one by goofy's stalls in each area. Also you can keep one in your furniture inventory. What i do is when my inventory is full ill drop the chest dump my inventory and then pick the chest back up. Then you can access those items from inside the storage room.

Awh thank you, I do a version of the darkwood chests in each area too but I just use them for all my flowers so if I'm out and about I can dump all my flowers without heading home. It helps me keep from having to go back home so often to drop off everything else.

@Justin Burmeister:I think you are thinking of the connected house chests where you can only put certain items in the one chests and then if you buy more of that chest it will have the same items in it. Which is good but also not entirely what people are hoping for. Like if you buy the softwood or light wood version of it or whatever the outside version of it is it’s still a connected house chest one just goes inside and the other one goes outside yet the two chests are different colors.

Just a tip, you can pocket your Home storage chest(Dark Wood Vintage Chest) and go order more from Scrooge for only $3k. Way more space for things

Thank you…… So the home chest is awesome and you can buy more, I have several, buuuuutt it shares inventory with itself so unfortunately doesn’t increase your overall storage. It’ll be the exact same items in it no matter how many you place, but it’s easy access to the same inventory anywhere, kind of like an Ender chest. So I use my darkwood chest, the home one, as a flower dump. I put one in each biome and just dump my flowers in them as I’m out and about, helps keep my inventory clear longer before I have to go home and drop off everyone else.

I decided to copy this for my village, but I’ve been slowly replacing the Scrooge safes with large chests

Also I only use the safes from scrooges because they help me hold my seeds in my house in my storage area. I also have a few of them outside until they let us do bigger rooms if we ever get to do bigger rooms but I still do need to buy more scrooge safes later on I use the scrooge safes as back up Storages for if I run out of other storage areas

Like the appearance of your storage room. Me personally I stick a chest by each well of what is in the zone and store stuff that way. I have a chest by mona's fish boat too. Things like gems, dirt, clay, stone, etc I keep in the house and will probably do something similar to what you got for those miscellaneous stuff.

Any time and don’t worry about the learning putting stuff on tables, the game does not make it very intuitive. When I did last I had to split the stack to one in inventory, drop it on the ground, go to furniture edit mode and drag it to the table :)

Thx, I wouldn't think of placing items above the chest, however I have so much storage, I have to dedicate two floors of the house upgrades the store items. One for food, such as gardening room, a fruit room and, fishing room. The second storage floor is dedicated to materials, mining room, wood room, landscape room, holds things as pebbles and clay, then the craft room define items. Sidenote: the Mickey chest or, the chest you start out within the house is multiple share items, unlike the other storage chest, one can place an item in the chest and retrieve that item from a different location from the same chest. To get more of the Mickey chest remove the chest from the house and, go to Scrooge's store and order more of that chest. So I use the chest as station areas for each of my biomes to deposit items in and, also have one in each room to retrieve and put away items.

I literally just changed my storage room to this one almost exactly! Only thing I changed was that I changed the meal chest to a seed chest. Only cause I don't make meals that I don't plan on eating or giving to friends for favorite meals. So I end up with seeds from night thorns that I don't use.

If you have the money, would it be better to just buy single counters instead of double counters? That way if you need to reorganize you can grab each pair (chest/safe and counter) separately without having to reorganize the items on the counters as well.

Depending on your setup, if you think the single one will work better for future setups I could see the flexibility being nice. I got my heart set on onesetup, so I went with the two wide :)

I've just been doing this, testing some stuff out. All the single counters I have only have 2 spaces on top, whereas the double length counters have 4 spaces per each safe if that makes sense

Currently have dedicated storage both inside and outside my house. Outside has my flowers, fish, crops, fruit, spices, and seeds. Inside has my gems, shards, and anything used with crafting. Most items I have sorted in order acquired so most are sorted by the biome they’re from. Fish are a bit more random as I keep common ones but usually sell rare ones except for lobster (for the crocs). I keep whatever foods all animals like in my inventory in case I want to feed em. Right now at least, I harvest the fruit so often that when I get a stack, I sell the stack and the extra until it becomes a stack. That’s been my money method for awhile other than the occasional soufflé binge. XD I currently don’t have a room in my house for storage as I haven’t even added a room yet. XD

I believe you can order the chest that came with the house as well and you’ll get all the storage it has. Meaning more than the 2 rows in a regular chest

So … yes, you can do that, but it can’t hold separate inventory like the 2 row ones do. Basically anything I put in the original bigger home chest, it just lets me access those items wherever else I put that chest. Think like an Ender chest. So I use that chest as a flower dump. I put one in each biome and one in my storage room. That way I can drop off flowers at any of those chests while I’m out and about to keep my inventory clean, but everywhere you put that chest it will have identical inventory.

I also did my gems in one chest by the colors of the gems aka the colors of the rainbow aka garnets and Rubies on top the orange,yellow,green,blue,purple,pink ones in the middle then the Diamond and the onyxs on the bottom and I used the big large chest granted I have enough gems left to start a third chest the same way if I need to also I kept my shiny and none shiny gems together. Since I only did 2 sets of 50 for each color I also do need to mine more gems to fill up the missing parts in the chests but that’s a task for later

I have a similar setup outside of my house. I can't stand the load time of going in and out of the house. I honestly haven't went inside my house in probably the last 80 hours or so. I also Fast Travel to any realm I want to visit and try to catch any villager outside if I can. Only buildings I ever go in are Scrooges and Remy's. Haha.

But then again I also don’t have counters behind my chests yet since I don’t have enough counters yet so instead I just have my storages in my house on one floor in separate rooms of the house on the same floor that all have different wall paper and floorings. And the only chests I have right now are the small storage chests,and the vaults in my house. I would change out my smaller chests in the kitchen area to be craftable larger chests but I hate that the larger chests that you can craft now Take up Dreamlight.

it's as easy as this use the chest in your house for all the food items. use 3 chests for all the flowers 2 for sticks one for full stack one for partial stacks same for rock ore and sand clay. use two chests for gems one chest for seeds one for fish and one for quest items you don't want to carry.

Where do you buy safes? I'm done with scroodge but I can't buy more safes...

Make sure the one you have is not currently placed, if it is pick it up so it’s no longer placed anywhere, then go to Scrooge and ask him to let you order items. I think it’s in furniture under storage.

How do you get that many chests or items to work in one room? I can't fit more than 5 in one room then in my other room the chest I made has the same items as my other chest. What am I doing wrong?

I have a question if you don´t mind. I just can´t figure out how to place the items on top of the counter. How on earth did you do that?

Oh I should have probably mentioned in the video as it is ..... counterintuitive the way it works. If you have more than one of the item, split the stack, drop one on the floor, then go in to the furniture tab, and back out to the decorating screen, pick up the item in that screen and drag and drop it where you want it to be. I hope that helps. :)

What table did you use? I tried using a shelf and I cant put anything on it.. but maybe im doing it wrong? Also my safe is a gross green. I guess you can customize?

No customization unfortunately, do the other colors look right in your game? That’s weird. I used the kitchen island because he has the most places to put stuff on top. I hope it ends up working for you. I had to split the stack for the item to 1, drop it on the ground, go in furniture mode and move it to where I wanted it.

HELP! I bought additional safes but when I placed them and tried to add items to them, nothing happens. I’m not able to add items to the new safes. They are empty, but when I try to transfer anything, nothing happens. Anyone know the how to fix for this?

Thank you very much. Got the safe it’ll be in your furniture inventory in the storage section, for the counters once you unlock buying additional items from scrooge he sells them to you up to an additional 25 items a day. The one I used were kitchen islands the rectangular ones :)

@@BarbsCozyCorner I figured out you need to be past a certain quest level! I had it unlocked experience/friendship wise. But even tho he was level ten, there was a quest it expected me to finish before the safe was unlocked. Thank you for your input.

I've done something similar but since your house can have about 50 floors or something crazy like that, I've actually just given each category it's own room for storage. Example: the first room I made was a fish dedicated room, each type of fish has their own chest, and I also put in seaweed, the three gatherables and sand in this room as well. Took alot of time to make all the chests because why can't we just buy standard storage chests??

Ah that makes sense, knowing me of I split it all in to different rooms I’d never use them, since I’d have to remember which it’s which. They did make it to where you have to craft all the wood chests now, when they it to where we can buy crafted items. If you get the scrooge safe quest reward, those can still be bought, but they are decently expensive.

@@BarbsCozyCorner At 4 complete storage rooms in I think it's a bit too late to switch to safes lol. I do have the safe and have plenty of money to buy at least a few days worth of full order stock, though I think i've put too much effort into the chests. I might switch the Heavy Wooden Tables I'm using behind them for regular countertops though. It might look nicer. It's very frustrating that I still can't just buy the chests but I guess they thought it was too easy, like Kristoffs stock being inifinite.

Awh thank you. I sacrifice my main house chest for flowers, that way I don’t have to deal with 😅 I put a copy of the chest in each biome so I can drop off flowers when I’m out and about since they tend to be the worst offenders for cluttering my inventory

Once you finish scrooges level 10 quest he’ll give you one, with that one not placed down, go to Scrooge and he’ll let you buy more in his ordering furniture option. Totally worth getting him to max level for the safe. 🥳

Try the kitchen island from the counter section, it’s wider. I hope that helps 🍀
