Motion Raceworks is proud to announce we have in stock and are carrying the new TVS (True Variable Speed) Brushless 5.0 GPM fuel pump. This pump brings you the capability of 1550+RWHP with E85 fuel on a boosted application.
With the new variable speed controller addition to the already tried and true 5GPM pump, you can drop pump flow down from 5.0 GPM down to approx 1.5 GPM or 30% duty cycle. This pump has a control wire that takes in a 0-5V analog input which will control the internal controller and alter flow.
Due to brushless design, the 5.0GPM pump creates no actual heat in the pump. However, ambient temperature from the road surface as well headers, transmission, etc will introduce heat. So for these reasons lowering flow will expose fuel less to the heat and in turn will decrease fuel temperature.

Been using brushless motors in RC airplanes and cars for a long time, brushless Will heat up. Not to the extent of a brushed, but they will heat up!

Yeah. If you overload them or run the hard, they can get properly damaged by heat. Race RC boats with them and cooling is crucial. I suppose that what he means is that if they are within their operating range and ran somewhat conservative which I suppose they do, obviously they will not make a lot of heat. After all, these are 38 amp motors and what we tend to run is many times higher. Was he to make the same power with a brushed motor it would obviously run hotter and be a lot bigger to do the same. At the end of the day we are watching a commercial, so it is what it is, and the outrunner in this pump can run cool if the motor is conservatively loaded which I would think it is for longevity. Could you imagine running some of the 40 and 56 can motors we run in our hobby for this many hours on end on a constant load? That's not what we do so our issues with heat are slightly different.

Most ECU's do not offer a direct voltage output.. you would need a PWM to voltage converter in most cases

Joe Sikes it is still recommended yes. Note you can’t actually PWM this pump, just only use a variable speed input

If you size the pump to your system, then it will need the line it always have. But if you are making 1000 hp and buy a 7 gpm pump, no then obviously not if you lower the duty cycle. But then again, why on earth would you want to run that? For that application you'll only need the 3.5 and if you are making way less power, then again, get a smaller and cheaper pump still. In short, if you never use the pump to above say 70% or more of its capacity, it's a total waste. I know someone who run a hopped up LS9 and he seems to think he's a pro mod racer, so he bought the 10 gpm pump. A waste of 1000+ usd. Size your pump for your application, the entire system will be at its best that way, including the pump and your car will be faster because you lug less weight about and the right sized pump will operate in a more efficient band, thus cause less parasitic loss thought the electrical system.

Midnight C6 honestly it’s not the quietest pump on the market. What helps make them quieter is installing in tank and or using rubber mounting pads. For the power it makes it seems to be tolerable by most people!

Eh, it's a series of large fuel pumps for big power. No, they are not quiet but the ability to slow the pump down will obviously quiet them down, especially if you do an in-tank install with properly supported and dampened lines. But it is a high performance pump that moves a lot of fluid though an impeller system that was never designed for quiet operation. Man, these questions always baffle me. Is a 1500 hp methanol engine quiet? Nope.
