Thanks for the great video checking out the different night markets in Kaohsiung. Both of you seem to be getting much more comfortable in front of the camera. And did you guys get a new camera? Love the 4K!
@AlongWeGo3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Filming more often is definitely helping! And we didn’t get a new camera, we are just using the 4K setting for the first time. The 4K files take up so much space on the hard drive but once we saw the quality difference it is totally worth filming in 4K!

Gabe and Meg, this is an informative video. I miss the night markets of Taipei. Never been to Kaoshiung. Will surely go there this year. Keep safe always. Fan from Cebu Philippines. ;-)

Thank you so much for watching! Kaohsiung is a fun city to visit whenever you’re able to come to Taiwan again! When things are safer, we really want to visit the Philippines, looks like such a beautiful and exciting place!

My husband and I are moving to Tainan in about 2 months! Can’t wait to try the night markets! I’m wondering what your experience has been with people speaking English? I noticed several of the people at the stalls did. Not being able to understand people, or them understand me, worries me! Thanks for the awesome & informative content! :)
@AlongWeGo3 жыл бұрын
Congrats! You guys are gonna love it, Tainan is a lovely little city. Most of the time we find we can get by with gesturing and often someone at a food stand or restaurant will speak a little English. When that doesn’t work, google translate helps a lot. Many menus aren’t in English so the camera option in the translate app is a lifesaver there!
Great video guys! the first one I got to see on your page. My wife's family house is a few blocks from the Liuhe nigh market, definitely touristy but still a great option. I agree that the raifung night market is the best in Kaohsiung. If you guys are still living in the area there is a great breakfast/lunch noodle shop about 2 blocks west of the Liuhe night market.

Burning the brown sugar makes it smells and tastes better, when drinking the boba milk tea. It's like roasting the seafood makes the flavor better than just cooking it. The fried fresh vegetable and tofu is from a food stall that makes Mongolian barbecue. I guess it's all you can 'put in a bowl' for NTD $180 dollars. The fish is called seer fish, it is commonly seen in Taiwan for sure. Because it's texture is harder to chew, a good way to eat it is to make it into chunks by deep frying. Soaking seer fish chunks into gluey broth is a popular local cuisine for sure.
@AlongWeGo3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the burning brown sugar made the milk tea taste so good! We thought the Mongolian barbecue price was going to be per item so we definitely could have filled up our bowl much more to make it worth the cost!

how is the language barrier? do many people speak english or do you easily pick up mandarin when living there?
@AlongWeGo3 жыл бұрын
We definitely do NOT easily pick up on the mandarin! It’s not like Spanish or French where some of the words may sound similar in English, so it can be quite difficult. We rely on google translate a lot, and of course the patience and kindness of the locals 😊
