The true winner in all of these tool duels is all of us consumers , the intense competition between the manufacturers means we are getting better and better cordless tools. However the clear winner in this particular duel is the DeWalt.....I don't have any experience with the Skil but I've used the big banana a few times and trust me when I tell ya.....if ur not careful that thing has enough cahunas to knock the earth off its axis. As usual , great vid.

The skilsaw's dust ejection is a deal breaker. It's designed great for vac extraction. But run it outside on a breezy day and you'll be yelling "why the F*#k did I buy this thing" in about 5 minutes. Reminds me of running an old lawnmower with a missing side chute.

I have the DeWALT Saw and it IS a Beast ! The bottom guard on the DeWALT saw has a little shoe on it that allows the saw to plug cut with out moving forward. I noticed the SKIL SAW bottom guard grabbed the material forcing the saw forward a tad. This may or may not be an issue, depending on what type of project you are working on. Both are top of the line saws IMO. Thanks for the video.

If I ever really need a cordless saw, the Skill will be the first one I try. I've personally never used a cordless circular saw that I liked. They always feel chunky and rear heavy to me. My go to saw is an old Skill HD77M. It is the best feeling saw I've ever used. It's so easy to see and guide. It gives me the easiest cut. I like the worm drive train the most because it's quiet and smooth. I also like the fact that it's designed to be maintained by changing the oil.

I have the dewalt and makita and I love them both! I find myself grabbing the makita for everyday work, and the dewalt for bigger material. Also keep a mag 77 in the trailer, but I have to admit she hasn’t been out to play for a long while. Was thinking about picking up the new skil, but I don’t need it... wanted more because I started with a skil, and like many others I hold it near and dear to the heart. But I think I will wait for a gen 2 on this one.

To me, this contest would come down more to ease of use than to power. I’m sure I would never be able to push these saws as fast as they can go and still be able to cut a half decent line. I suppose that power might come into play more in a demolition setting, but it’s still kind of a moot point to me. If they can both rip through a treated 6x6 at full depth like that, I’m sure they’ve got the goods to get the job done and then some. Great video by the way, big fan of the channel.

It could be that the DeWalts battery puts out more power than the Skilsaw’s battery - 9ah 60v(DeWalt) vs 5ah 48v(Skilsaw), and it also depends on the battery cells used inside one battery vs the other. Torque Test Channel helps you understand more about the power of different batteries.

It may be a little late to say this but, you said the other saws are basically reconfigured sidewinders; I don't think that's correct. I think the makita and dewalt are hypoid gear saws, the dewalt even says worm drive style, can't say 100 percent for the milwaukee. The difference is the hypoid saws have more mechanical efficiency and get less hot so the gear lube doesn't break down, also the gears are hardened steel as opposed to the brass gear on the skil. A sidewinder doesn't use gear advantage necessarily, the blade is basically connected directly to the motor where the others use a gear advantage to gain more torque.

I would have said up and down that the Skilsaw will outlast the DeWalt, however, the warranty is worrisome. It is odd that such a robust design has a weaker warranty. Many newer saws are now made in China which I find to be lower quality in materials, machining, accuracy, longevity, toughness and warranty. No Chinese tools for me. I'll buy made in USA, Taiwan, Europe, Japan, Korea. I tried the Skil 120v 16" and 10" worms, both made in China. I returned both, not worthy investments. The veering is something I noted when comparing the flexy and the Fuel. Somwething about the balance, or speed or something. The dewalt does it fast! I love ripping sheet goods with it. The milwaukee is super accurate. And even at 54 volts and 18 volts, they cannot even begin to be compared to the old 18v tools. I have picked up one of my old mag 77 skil's maybe 1 or 2 times. Only to move it out of the way. Sucks because I have over a decade of quality time with my good ol' skil's..... They are just no longer needed. @@EM-fi2qg lol agreed. I was pushed by my guys to make the "cordless switch" because I'd always been so "old school" per say. I still have an old 96 f350 7.3 ccsb myself that I will never part with for any tesla. And a couple of 2010's with waaaay too much $ in them now to part with. Anyway.... Let us know when you decide to give a cordless a whirl! If nothing else, for cutting while you're up in the rafters. We own a few flexvolt rear handles, and now milwaukee rear handles. The dewalt is a super fast saw! We run flexvolt sliding and non slider miters and a couple of the mini table saws and they're great too. Especially the miters. But the m18 Fuel rear handle cuts best for me. Power is plentiful and the saw tracks straight as an arrow and has all the power we need for LVL's, glulams, (treated and standard) and timber. It's mean! And 1 battery lasts a solid day of end cutting off the pile. So despite my flexvolt love, the fuel is my recommendation to you for all around quality as a builder. Looking forward to your input when you get that opportunity. Take care 👍 🍻

I think DeWalt has the better of these 2... I'm a skill guy, but that DeWalt did a much better job on dust extraction.

The video is informative but the premise seems flawed. The impression is, the video is based on two specific saws solely because they were the ones sent to you. Not necessarily because they're the best in class. So, for instance, if Makita sent a saw but Skil did not, the presumption is, this would have turned into a comparison between Dewalt and Makita. Is that a wrong assumption? If so, please explain. I can only speak for myself but when I watch a tool comparison, I'm interested in seeing the best-of-the best, in a specific category or class of tools, in a head-to-head comparison. I'm skeptical when the comparison is between two tools that were simply the tools that became available to review. Is this a fair comment? Please let me know if it's not because I'm not here to bash you, I'm most interested in making sure I have a clear understanding of the foundation of the video so that a properly informed buying decision can be made on a tool. In a more positive sense, your reviews are some of the most informative and helpful I've seen for purely assessing an individual tool on its own. Big kudos to you in that regard.

I own a corded DeWalt and it's dust ejection is superb. With larger particles of convenient board almost everything goes through ejection port. And you can plug vacuum to it. In that it is much Superior to my Makita. Again thanks for review!

This reminds me of back in the day. There was a lot of skill saws and a lot of Black & Decker saws but Black & Decker now is called DeWalt but back in the day my choice was a skill saw. I can't believe I'm going to say this the winner is Black & Decker oops I mean DeWalt. Peace brother

Lol man Dewalt and b&d maybe the same owner or something. ..but they're a different line in all sections. ...plastic motor grips and else. ...they own Dewalt b&d bostitch and Stanley. ...they're all so different. ...so this is not the ugly b&d. ...it's the sexy freeking flexy man. ..

I own the Dewalt and the Milwaukee rear handle saws. The Dewalt saw is definitely more powerful. The Milwaukee will give me a longer run time with a 12ah battery, but the power of the Dewalt is favorable. All great saws, but in my opinion, they all have a use depending on the job. 4x4 or 2x12 cutting projects, Dewalt or my miter saw 😊. 2x4 framing, osb, or other like material, the Milwaukee or Skill Saw will suffice for an all day project.

I love my Skilsaw but dammit this proprietary battery is killing me...especially at the price they come in at.

Imo Skilsaw looks ridiculous, the battery looks like it's an after thought, that dust blower is bizarre and it is way to heavy to use all day .

You scare the crap out of me every time you go to finger-dig-out come chips from between the saw blade and the blade housing, with a battery-powered saw, and your finger is on the power switch! Ouch! (Take the battery out FIRST, please!)

I would like to know the country of manufacture for each of these saws. The deal breaker for me would be a made in China vs made in America.

I have two 30+ yr old Skilsaw 77s going strong - made in USA. I'm still using my Makita 16" circ saw which is 38 yrs old, and made in Japan.
