DeWALT FLEXVOLT 60V 7-1/4 IN. Worm drive style rear handle circular saw review | Circ saw ep.5

We take a look at and test the DeWALT Flexvolt 60v max 7-1/4 in cordless wormdrive style circular saw. Rear handle by design similar to a true worm drive circular saw. Not true worm drive by design but not sure most people would be able to tell since the power and torque are there.
During testing it shows as the TOP performing circular saw we've tested. Taking the TOP spot on the leaderboard as the fastest cutting saw out at this time.
Tested using a 9ah (3ah flexvolt mode) and 6ah (2ah flexvolt mode) batteries, we believe the saw's real performance would increase with the 12 ah (4ah flexvolt mode) battery.
Great tool, easy to use, superior power, rugged makes it easy to recommend this saw for any serious framing work.
The DEWALT DCS577X1 60V MAX 7-1/4 in. Cordless Worm Drive Style Saw with 3.0 Ah battery offers big runtime. The blade is oriented to the left of the motor and the handle is at the rear to optimize line of sight when cutting. An electronic brake helps stop the blade after the trigger is released. Bevel capacity is 53s with stops at 45s and 22.5s. The saw makes smooth, accurate cuts and delivers long runtime with a durable, high-grade magnesium shoe and an efficient brushless motor.

It's really personal preference. I grew up using the sidewinder style saw. but the more I use a circular saw I like the rear handle design. In terms of power i believe the flexvolt rear handle is a bit more powerful, but they're probably close enough that it's negligible.

Own both, use the worm drive while framing houses and the other for everything else. Both good saws, the worm drive comes into its own when on the roof.

@@4thewinak I have the 578 been using it for 6 months now it’s a beast of a saw. It’s only weakness is ripping 2x4’s on a bevel you can rip probably 4 studs after that the battery is dead. But we rarely rip 2x4’s like that. I just bought this saw the rear handle and I can’t wait to use it tomorrow at work, we are starting on a new build! Can’t wait to cut all the floor joists!

The Dewalt rear handle saw is not the fastest cutting saw on the market today. That title belongs to the Flex Tools 7 1/2" saw.

Since they don’t make a 7 1/2 inch, I believe you mean 7-1/4 inch. Anyhow, I doubt it. It hard (not impossible) for any lower voltage tool in to compete with the higher voltage ones like the 54v flexvolt due to the efficient loss when pushing the amount of current required to generate the same amount of power. BUT I guess we’ll have to put that to the test.
