Oh man...! When you opened up the Langen for the first time (at about 13:50 in the video) the hairs on the back of neck pricked up and I realised I had the biggest grin on my face...!! 🤪 One of THE best bikes I ever owned as a kid back in the early 80s was a twin-cylinder Yamaha RD200 - did absolutely nothing until about 8,000rpm and then it just flew...! Passed my test on my Yam FS1E and then got the favourite of all my bikes, the Yamaha RD250LC. Oh god, she was such an amazing piece of kit, and the smell of the 2 stroke has become one of my absolutely favourite things. You don't come across it much these days, but if you're lucky enough to get up to the Isle Of Man GP, there's usually a fair few two strokes on and off the track. I binned my 250 whilst going over a roundabout, rather than around it, and my 17 year old self cried for hours. Still brings a tear to my eye. The 250, and it's big brother, the 350YPVS, were icons of the 80's, as much as Jane Fonda in spandex, the Rubiks Cube and Walkmans. God, I miss the 80's 🤣 Great job, Shakey, you're a natural 👍🏻

What a wonderful machine! I had over a dozen strokers in my teens and twenties, from my first little RD200, RD350, RD400E, 350 L/Cs ,RG500 an RGV250M the same as Shakey's, I loved its paint scheme but it was the banana (gullarm) swingarm that won me over and my last one an Aprilia RS250, I loved the smell, sound and power band of the two strokes and even though I'm now in my sixties and love my Street triple RS, whenever I hear or smell a stroker it takes me back to my youth.

i love 2 stroke street bikes, for zipping around town or cutting through the twisty's there's nothing like them, the only draw back I've ever found is that out of all of them I've ever ridden there was only one that was a good highway cruiser, the water cooled Suzuki GT 750, unlike all the other 2 strokes street bike which were fun but up at highways speeds always ended up being in the power band which isn't someplace you want a 2 stroke to be for long periods of time, instead of going from bog to OMG in the blink of an eye like the H2, the Suzuki had a nice wide linear power band that was more like a 4 stroke which made it easy to ride on the highway for long distances.......

I remember the Suzuki RGV250 coming out, 1989/90 ish, it was very trick, well ahead of it's time, very advanced and very modern looking compared to most bikes of that era, a leap ahead of the previous RG250 gamma model. They were very much a pocket rocket, a physically very small bike and I remember many times one flying past me as I started braking in the approach to a bend on my CBX1000, then pulling away from me incredibly fast through the corners, I'd maybe start to catch up a little on the next straight but they'd be gone again braking into the next corner! They were so nimble, like a proper gp bike for the road, they were probably closer to a gp bike than a road bike to be fair. I really think it has aged very well and doesn't look all that dated, it feels very odd hearing it described as 'a classic', makes me feel quite old 😲😊😁

I miss my old Aprilia RS250 so much. No bike I've owned since has been as much fun or - maybe more important - smelled so good. Thanks for this.

Me too had 3 but my favourite was the reggiani. Wish I'd still got them

@@Pracatan Mine was Chesterfield too, never really liked the Reggiani-reps. Having said that, if one in any livery popped up for sale now then I'd crawl through a barrel of broken glass to stick matches in it's shit and wouldn't let it out of my sight ever again :-D

@@GG-me6fg I should never have sold my last RS2.5; it was replaced with a CBR400RR-R which lasted nine days before some git jumped a red and sent me flying into the path of a bus. Wouldn't have happened on the 'Priller (maybe;)

I had a few 2 strokes back in the day. A Suzuki A100, a Kawasaki Samurai 250 (with disc inlet valves) and a Kawasaki S3 400 triple. All fun!

My first bike was a Honda MT5…50cc then did my test on Suzuki A100, then went onto 4 strokes. Always regretted not getting an RD250LC or 350.. the thing looks gorgeous

I bought the M had the stage 2 power valve , exact same one on 1994/95 was only about 3 year old at the time , for a 250 it flew, flat out on the clock as accurate as it were 125mph

Cannot tell you how jealous I am sitting across the pond listening to such sweet two stoke music and knowing we'll never get a chance to give it some throttle in the states!

It's very hard to get something taken off the market here in the U.S., but 2 strokes managed to do it. The reason being they are heavy polluters for their size. 2-stroke street bikes disappeared first, followed by the dirt bikes and eventually boat motors and lawn equipment.

Man i've missed two strokes. Totally made a stank face when it was opened up. Sounds beautiful
@QuakeGamerROTMG2 жыл бұрын
We need more like this. Petrol engines are on the way out so this may be the last chance to make any two strokes with modern engineering As it is if you want a two stroke roadbike your only option anymore is 20-30 year old Japanese carby bikes that cost new bike money since they're both desirable and becoming rarer by the day

That Langan, has to be one of the most beautiful bikes I’ve ever seen, if not the most.
