I commend your channel for shaking up this bike scene with your sense of humor, every channel is trying to be Mr safe, sensible, and sterile. it's funny how many "nice guys" there are in these comment sections, who think policing what you do with your stuff is a valuable effort. That last video revealed how many simps and crybabies there are for BIKE PARTS! my point is this: it's your bike, ride and keep doing it your way man. Respect, you earned a subscriber for doing it your way.

10 - 45 cassette on 12 gears. That's how I ride 😂 If I could I'd probably just keep a 10, 20 something and 45 on a 34 chainring. 3 speed is about all u need, I predict not too far away we'll get there right where we were 40 yrs ago 😂 Imagine how reliable that would be, almost no cross tensioning. Another high quality banger. And not trying to hate or anything, but keeping in mind that you're going for lightweight components, i don't think the marzocchi bomber z2 was the best idea, yeah, it's a good fork for trail riding, but it's not the lightest at this price. For around the same price there is the Rockshox Reba (wich is like 300 grams lighter than the z2) and from what i saw on the sram site, you can get the reba with 140mm (and keep in mind this is an amazing fork for the money)

@@EvansMTBSaga it definitely is a x01. The gx cogs are stamped steel cogs that are pinned together. The x01 like yours is 1 solid billet piece except for the last big cog. It also weights like 354 grams vs 450 grams of the gx. The gx is still very light. You have to be at the xt level on the shimano 12 speed to weight almost as light as the gx level. Your nx or sx cassette weights over 600 grams for reference. The x01 cassettes don't sell for less than $200 used, and cost $385 new by itself.

Wait dentist? Canyon are a value, direct to consumer manufacturer. They are literally made to have hood bang for buck. They have the same/similar business model to vitus (your bike).🙄🤦
@EvansMTBSaga

Yes and canyon is wildly over priced. The bike that these parts came off of was $3800 retail. They just released a "budget" hardtail and it's $1300 and has everything the $800 Nucleus VRS has.

@@EvansMTBSaga Yes, Canyons bikes can be expensive but there is a difference between expensive and poor value. Value is the amount of money that you spend vs the parts that you get. Canyons top bikes are around $10,000, an eye-wateringly high amount of money, however the same parts could be found on much more expensive bikes like a specialised or Santa Cruz. While the Nucleus VRS and Canyon stoic are similar bikes the canyon does have a few spec advantages: the biggest one is the inclusion of a dropper post and (for Australia) a far better fork and brakes.

@@EvansMTBSaga you gotta look deeper than the components that come with a bike. For $400 more you get a through axel frame, and a more trail/mountain oriented geo. The frame is something you can never change. The real comparison for the Stoic tho, is between Vitus’s Sentier and Canyon Stoic, as those bikes are more similar to each other. If you were to ask me, the highest spec Stoic out shoots the highest spec Sentier, and the Sentier VRX is $400 more than the Canyon Stoic 4.

@@Wokegooglers You make a good point for sure. I've had an endless internal debate about through axles recently. Why are they such a big deal? I raced BMX for 20+ years and never had a wheel fall out of the drop out. The the thru axle only for peace of mind? Is the stiffness of the thru axle the primary reason? Is that stiffness worth hundreds of more dollars? This internal debate peaked today when I saw a 12 speed on a QR hub.

@Wokegooglers 3 жыл бұрын
@@EvansMTBSaga thru axels are a lot stronger when it comes to handling the constant abuse your bike goes through. And having a through axel bike allows you to be able to upgrade your wheel set or hub down the road. For $400 more, you get more than just a better frame. the fork maybe the same between the Nucleus and Stoic, but you get a slightly better drivetrain and brakes, couple that with a modern frame and geo, it’s well worth the extra $400. The Stoic is within the same bracket as the Vitus Sentier, because they’re realistically mid level hardtails, while the nucleus is a budget entry level hardtail.

What was the old tire? As a fellow mythique owner I really love these bikes. 12sp eagle is super nice, consider the gx shifter if you haven't. Definitely a bit nicer than the nx, although I'd always stick to nx derailleurs. My main thing is looking at suspension upgrades over the x fusion stuff now haha.
@EvansMTBSaga

The nx derailleur feels top of the line to me. Everyone has me curious about shifter upgrade. I'm thinking about doing a video "upgrading with all the wrong parts" and getting a grip shifter. They make a 12 speed one, even an X01 grip shifter!!
Is a $4000 carbon mountain bike frame really worth it?
