Tuning pro tip: always go below then back up, especially with vintage, non-locking, or older tuners. If you just tune down to the pitch, once you start playing, the vibrations from the string, vibrations from the neck of the guitar, and any tension added from bends, can make your strings go flat. This is because the gear in the tuner will lock into place while tightening, but can be slightly loose when loosening, causing it to slip.
@theworshipresource1994 жыл бұрын
Doug Clark thanks man! You’re absolutely right! That’s my normal practice when I tune. I was trying to be very quick in the video and trying to show how the ST-200 tuner works. The strobe is something most people aren’t used to.

You're probably used to single coils in a tele. The humbuckers are darker, but try listening through good headphones or IEM's. It's really not all that dark, almost seems like he could use a fresh set of strings though. KZbin also puts a huge compressor on its audio.
@theworshipresource1995 жыл бұрын
CJ McGee the tone before youtube was very nicely compressed. That’s probably the difference. And the darker tone accounts for the live mix he normally plays in. It’s cut in the higher end to keep from interfering with the vocals.

David Graham seriously. It’s become one of my favorite pedals. Right next to my bigsky, etc.
@haroldglynn92604 жыл бұрын
@@theworshipresource199 The Lehle is a great pedal. And it would server you much better if you placed it after your last gain/dirt pedal and prior to any time based effects. This way your gain levels are constant and you are merely raising or lowering your overall volume. And you still can use it to kill any noise from the dirt pedals. To each his own, but with your setup, there is really no good reason to put the VP directly after the guitar, which is what you have when your tuner is bypassed. That VP also has a buffered out specifically for the tuner.

The tuner on the board looks a little hard to tell. If the circle is spinning, how can you tell if you're sharp or flat? I may not be a big pedalboard guy, just because I'm poor, but if I was to build my own, personally, I would choose the Boss chromatic Tuner pedal or the Polytuner pedal because it has an easier read-out.
@moments_with_IH2 жыл бұрын
pretty sure that tuner is in strobe mode, meaning the direction of the light (red) determines if it's flat or sharp - hope that helps! Personally using the Polytune 3 (noir), does the job, is also a buffer - also can't beat the price lol

As people who play worship music and things are often dynamic and allow room for the spirit to move the modern worship guitarist has to be able to be flexible and dial things in on the fly sometimes. Putting together modeler presets for a 5 song set list is cool and all but there could be a situation where the spirit is moving the leader into playing a different song to close a service. Say you planned on playing God of the promise which is upbeat and heavier when it comes to overdrive. The worship leader decides to switch out the song for something more soft and lush like Good Grace. Having a 100% modeling setup could prove hard to be flexible to setup between songs since most of the signal chain adjustment is hidden in menus. A board that uses both pedals and modeling at the back end is the best option in my opinion since it gives you ease of use and flexibility to change things on the fly using direct input knobs to dial in tone quickly when needed.
@theworshipresource1994 жыл бұрын
Cody Curnutte very good point. And I agree that it might be hard to flow if you only had programmed settings. However, one way to be ready for that would be to build a performance/rig that was specifically for flowing. Say, two verbs to choose from, a delay, a couple OD options. That would work pretty well. I do agree having a separate board would definite make it easier, but it’s possible to do it with only a remote and Kemper.

What do worship players do for a living or does the church fund your gear?
@phillipsouthard82854 жыл бұрын
Jared Potter almost every worship guitarist I know funds their own gear. In college I played lead guitar on Sunday’s while being a full time student and working part time at Subway. Bigger churches like Elevation, Hillsong, etc. probably pay their touring musicians, but the church doesn’t directly buy them gear.

We work regular jobs, save (or sell older gear), then we buy gear. Church almost never funds unless it's a necessity for the whole team, such as mics and monitors.

Cristian Videla Strymon power is overrated. They make great pedals, but their power signal isn’t noticeably better at all unless your using a cheap daisy chain. Voodoo Lab and One Spot Pro are perfectly fine- you just have to be intentional with the right voltage to each pedal.

All sounds good but yes, worship bands esp Hillsong and Bethel are all becoming the same ( start off with a dream pad, gentle singing, barage of sound , lots of shouting, and then tailing off again) and as a consequence, all worship guitarists are sounding the same, using the same gear and trying to get the same sound. But this happens to all music genres anyway. It needs somebody really innovative to come along and shake the thing up. All the pedals are just clones of themselves. Even the new strymon nightsky really isnt that different.
