Hmmm lorewise you technically need a trainer, but I could see some kind of special item or workaround. You can evolve friendship pokemon in mystery dungeon after all

My thought process is that if Nintendo/Game Freak aren't gonna capitalize on what is essentially the era/renaissance of the fighting game genre, they're not doing their market research properly. A Pokken 2 would be killer with a proper story and actual trainer/pokemon teams. They'd earn MONEY.

Literally today I’ve been rewatching the pokken 2018 and 2022 tournaments, the crowd was huge, the announcers were amazing and hyped, watching the gameplay was probably the most entertaining gameplay I’ve watched. This game NEEDS a sequel, I don’t want to go to one of those pokemon convention thingys and watch pokemon unite🙄. I’ve been praying for another one, the amazing new pokemon they could add would be amazing.

Love Pokken, if it continued active development I’m sure Cinderace, Ceruledge and Urshifu would have ended up in it but I’d like other representation like it would be nice to have an ultra beast and paradox mon in it Also a separation of modes as an option. The twofold combat system is a bit of a barrier to entry for some new folks who just expected a 2.5D or 3D fighter and it’s understandable to see people keep it at arm’s distance while engaging with much easier venues like Mystery Dungeon, Unite, Go, etc. Fighting games are just hard to make popular, even with stacked rosters.

I definitely liked playing Pokken, probably the only gripe was the constant switch between side scroll and open field switching, and the unnecessary copies of shadow mewtwo and pikachu libre. At least my boi Decidueye got a chance to be useful since it sucks to proper comp play. Would be kind of dope to see Eevee as a fighter since pikachu is one.

If they make pokken 2 they should add a mechanic where you can evolve your pokemon while in battle in a separate mode, and my number 1 pokemon added in pokken 2 would be the hitmon family they would be perfect in it

Physical copies of Pokkén Tournament DX for the Switch are relatively inexpensive so you should buy now. That way you'll already have the basics of the game down if Pokkén Tournament 2 becomes a reality.
