Cool piece of equipment. It is 1/5 the size of a LabRadar and 30% more expensive than a LabRadar. If they could price it at closer to $500 usd, they'd sell a ton more of them.

I was pretty interested in the device because of how it is mounted, compact, and bluetooth; but the $1000.00 price point...changed my mind. I'll stick to my Labradar. If you add up all the support equipment needed to run a labradar, it still comes in less expensive than this device.

Another great video as usual, I was also looking at this chronograph. I ended up going with the AndiScan micro v2. It is also very compact, can be mount to your rifle and has a display screen. It also has the option to connect to you phone. I would love to see a video with all the doppler radar and magnetic chromographs. Thanks for the great videos

Recently, I bought the pic rail adapter for my Magneto Speed for clocking pistol loads, specifically 5.7x28 from my M&P. Setup and use couldn’t have been simpler; no fiddling required. I’ve had the MS for a couple of years, but this was the first I used it and I was really pleased with the results. Good video, as per usual.

This is the first I've heard of the Speedtracker Mach4 Chronograph... checked the price on Midway... makes the LabRadar system look less expensive... I'll still be using the Magneto Speed and a cheep optical unit down range to check terminal velocities... When the price on this tech piece drops I'll be on it like a fly on stink.

My best purchase ever. Load development made super easy. You can use this during competitions to see if you are staying in tune. I missed high at 1100 yards, looked at the speed, saw I had a "special cause" in velocity that was 50ft/sec faster than normal, resisted the temptation to adjust lower and hit my next shot center of target. THIS is the crony to have!!! Absolutely amazing but it HAS to be parallel to the bore and have line of sight of the first meter of bullet travel. If you have a very fat silencer you will have to mount it as far forward as possible.

Absolutely like to have and use one. For indoor ranges it might be great if it works in doors. Can't go beyond the firing line in most due to lead contamination and safety concerns. It's a magneto chrony or nothing.

I have 5 five shooting sessions with the Speed Tracker. It has worked well at times with a four screw barrel mount with a Picatinny section. Even on a supper skinny Kimber Alpine Assent barrel. For benchrest I have struggled with alignment. I am working with attaching the radar to an older SEB Neo front rest. Android software struggles with accepting the signal if splitting time between phone and tablet. "Settings" does not contain the fix. Still learning.

Very nice form factor! I'm using the LabRadar recently and use the downrange (5 values) change in velocity to calculate the B.C. of the bullets in my gun. Getting up to 2000 readings for each shot (???) with this unit seems farfetched, but would help with calculating actual B.C. My question is at what distance does the bullet fall below the radar cone with this? LabRadar seems limited to ~ 100 yards. Does the SpeedTracker extend out further? My last thought...I use a rest for load development and mounting this on the rest (pointing downrange) would simplify use. A simple cup, with an adjustable gimble, that you could slide the SpeedTracker into would be the bomb...just thinking.

Bought one. It has issues, serious ones. This products has a lot of potential but the current execution is problematic on many levels. 1. There is a recurring issue of the unit bricking on first (or later) power on. It just does not want to power off until the battery is fully drained. After that, initial problem, it started connecting for me. There is NO hard reset option (pressing the power button longer does not bypass the processor). This is a big flaw 2. There is some time you need to spend to set it up correctly. For me (Tikka T3X, 6,5 CM with a muzzle break), it does not have any issues with Hornady ELD-M 140gr bullets but is very (50/50) with my Lapua Scenar-L 136gr bullets. 3. the parabolic cone has issues with staying in the appropriate place on the device, a small, single screw is not enough, and if you screw it hard, it damages the coating of the unit. 4. The new app is not really practical to use, at least for me If those issues will be fixed, then the device will be greate, but till that point, I do not think it is worth the price point for now. Hop it will change as I love the idea.

Does it store data like the LabRadar or do you only get data when using the app? Most of my rifles don't have the capability of mounting to pic rail so how good is on tripod and is there a standard tripod mount included? I saw another comment saying it is twice the price of a LabRadar so why would it be compelling to consider?

Usability issue, in bright daylight red/green and the white text are not easy to see, especially for color-impaired. People should never leave mode indication to color or text. Something should fundamentally change when connected and ready. Some frame or bar somewhere. Second, like someone mentioned below, this has probs catching .223/.224 bullets. At least without the additional front horn/mirror/shader.

Biggest con is that if you want your shots recorded you need to have the app open on your phone screen (device have no internal storage). This kind of disqualify speedtracked from being useful in PRS, where you have your hands full and need to move around (unless you mount the phone to your rifle or have a buddy who would take care of it for you). Other than that great device!

I’ll stay with the Labradar, it works great for me and as I always shoot from a bench, size is not really a factor. I use the exterior trigger and it rarely misses a shot. This small one is great, but I’m not going to sell the Labradar, then spend a whole lot more money on one of these, to do the same thing the Labradar does. I can see though that there would be shooters this would be a great help to, just not me.

Unless you have the additional lens, the radar won’t “see” through the blast of a muzzle break. Alignment is critical , I ended up using an extended off set picatinney rail bent slightly upwards to “see” around a suppressor. Mine works indoors with 6.5 no problem.

"OrangeChef Prep Pad". Because of that one item, I will never buy a Mach4 Chronograph without "redundant failsafe" on-device LCD display. The Prep Pad was a BT-only weighing scale in early Aughts. It was *also* 100% dependent on an "App" for function. No on-device display. When OrangeChef was bought out, they deprecated/retired the app. Bricking the device for all buyers. (Hackers reversed BT protocol partially since.) If Mach5 has an LCD display with speed number, like optical chronograph, I'll buy it at (x thousand) dollar mark. But not this Mark4.

Damn chronos getting more expensive year by year. I started out with the cheapest Caldwell back in the day, and it did fine - except when it got cloudy or rainy and you would have to write down each velocity. I would still have that thing if if I could've gotten readings on those bad days. It was a bit of a pain to set up as well. Later I picked up a Magneto Speed, and it gets readings reliably all the time. Still a bit of a pain to set up, but it saves strings to a micro card, which is nice. This speed tracker is ten times the price of the Caldwell, and three times that of the Magneto Speed. What happened to Capitalism making things cheaper?

I'm a mad scientist, but that $1K price is out of range for me. Without additional indirect alignment features the FTR/F-Open crowd will further hesitate. Too bad... they could have been famous.

The big problem with all these radar devices is the BlueTooth interface. Bluetooth is not reliable enough for this use. If the devices do not have USB data available to be used as a hardwire connection then you are better off with a self contained device like a MagnetoSpeed. Bluetooth is OK for downloading a data package, but falls all over itself in control resilience.

My Caldwell G2 uses bluetooth and it works really well. The data collection on the app is 10x better than what a Magnetospeed produces.

That’s why Bluetooth is used in all kinds of professional and industrial applications.

I have never struggled with the Bluetooth connectivity on my Speedtracker Mach 4. What you are complaining about is a non-issue with this device.

Wow, $1,100 on sale now at Midway USA. Surely it can't be that expensive to make? Perhaps the company is trying to recoup their research and development costs? The hassles of magnetospeed or optical systems seem much more tolerable now :)

If you would’ve said the price first I would’ve stopped watching a long time ago. Magneto sporter and a pro chrono for pistols and lever guns.

How long until the app isn't supported by modern cell phones and this isn't usable anymore? 2 years? 4?

That’s an issue your 10 year old Caldwell will work as long as the hardware work. My chronograph is over 30 years old and still working. You won’t be able to do that with a phone based unit

Looking for less expensive options not more. Companies tend to do better when they put out affordable products. They go bankrupt when their products are overlooked because of the price. Even companies like lab radar or magnetospeed haven’t rivaled the old F1 chrony in sales.

Doesn't sound like it would be a good one for my lever actions, and seems pretty expensive too. So not for me.
