@@CAROLCHANNELINGCHIC I have been looking for a navy or dark blue Lady Dior in Small or Medium for a while now, but unfortunately they only offer this colour in a Large. I have the black matte in medium, which I purchased during the Pandemic and have not yet had the opportunity to take it out often, but your thorough review on its wear-and-tear will alert me to what to be careful with. I wonder if Dior offers the service where they recondition or repair their bags, for a fee of course. Regarding the Dior charms logo, I find that if I leave the letters behind the large 'O', there are less scratches on that largest size charm, which shows up the most.

I’m not 100% sure about this but I think the matte look might be due to a coating on top of the leather so similar to how iridescent/metallic coatings rub off over time, the same might happen to this too. Lambskin, although delicate, is probably a safer option and I think the recent ones Dior has been doing with the lacquered charms are so pretty.

Yeah the ultra matte is really quite unique and I think it would look really great with the strap too. Do you think you’ll still want the ultra matte one even if you end up getting the black with gold hardware? I find when I settle for something that isn’t exactly what I wanted to buy, I always have that “what if” thought in my head.

I know a couple months later but what did you decide to do!? I just got the same ultra matte black saddlebag but torn because I’m scared the oils from my hand or sunscreen or something will rub off on it 😔 I don’t know what to do because I don’t know if I really like the gold hardware…thoughts?

Great detailed review about the wear and tear of this bag. I’m considering the fabric version and can see potential issues with the rubbing of the hardware on the fabric. Beautiful but may be too fussy for me 😕

You’re right - that could definitely be a problem. Also the Lady Dlite is really heavy for some reason. I think it’s heavier than the leather ones.

Im surprised by how many people that don't know how not durable matte leather is. It is similar to applying a matte finish top coat polish on your nails, over time it will buff off and become shiny. I don't recommend putting any cremes, leather moisturisers or leather polish on Matte or Metallic leather. They wear pretty similarly. Im sure you might be able to get the matte finish reapplied in the future from a good leather repair shop tho. Not sure if metallic is fixable tho, maybe if they colour match it and re-spray it perhaps.

Interesting. I’ve known that about metallics but not matte leather probably because it’s not commonly used. Luckily I don’t think the wear on the matte finish is as noticeable as on metallics.

This is so useful! I’ve just recently bought the black ultramatte. But I might just go back to the store and swap for the black lamb leather and gold hardware instead, only because it’s my first LD and I can be quite rough and have cats and want to use it quite a lot. 😕 I’ve not taken it out of the box yet and so hopefully I can still exchange

Informative review! Durability and maintenance wise, would you recommend lambskin or ultramatte calfskin? Struggling cause calfskin is more durable than lambskin but the matte exterior makes it less durable 😢

I never noticed any major wear and tear on the calfskin aside from the matte finish getting a bit shinier so I would say that’s more durable overall.

I just got an ultra matte in rose. I’m kinda nervous to use it because I was unaware how delicate the leather is. I have a Chanel bag and I beat it to death and it’s still in good condition. I love my Dior but just a little nervous to use it.

Thank you for doing such a detailed review with the close ups of the wear and tear. The Lady Dior is beautiful to look at and it is bag I have considered multiple times over the years. I remain hesitant with going for it since it seems some functionality of the design is sacrificed for the aesthetic. The handles flopping down while wearing it seems like it would bang up the handles faster than other top handle styles like the Kelly, Peekaboo, Coco Handle, and YSL Cassandra.

That is a concern I have for the handles too but luckily it still looks perfectly fine so far. I love top handle bags but I must say that all of them have their flaws - as you said it’s definitely one of those things where aesthetics was prioritized in the design process.

I like the matte leather look but I don't think I'll invest in a matte bag for the same reasons you've mentioned. matte leather is even more "high maintenance" than lamb. Granted, my matte bag is just a woc and I am noticing sheen developing because of natural hand oil 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm thinking about the matte blush as long as it's not pink and more of a nude. Do you know if it is? If not I'll shoot for warm taupe or beige. I am bummed out a tad as I love the suede inside the matte. So if I get the other, it will just be cloth. Bummer

Depends on the look you’re going for because the all black look and the classic black with gold hardware are complete opposites. Regarding the leather itself I have to say I’ve been really impressed with the lambskin on my lady dior and I’m a huge fan of lambskin in general so that would be my pick.

The black is so prettyl! It was the one I originally intended on getting but the boutique didn’t have it at the time. I don’t regret choosing the navy but the black is probably the most beautiful so black type of bag I’ve seen any brand release.

I certainly wouldn’t pick the lambskin with light gold hardware over this matte one because I think there’s too much gold on that. However if it’s between the lambskin with the lacquered hardware and this, it would be a hard decision - I don’t think I can say definitively that I would choose one over the other because I do really love this bag but the lambskin paired with the tonal lacquered hardware looks amazing too.

Generally I’m not a fan of patent leather especially in lighter colors because of the potential yellowing of the plastic coating. If it’s black or a dark color then it won’t be noticeable but even then I would prefer getting a different type of leather if it’s possible.

Hi @@CAROLCHANNELINGCHIC , I‘ve just bought it from the store. the back of the strap it is kind of wrinkle. Do you have the same problem or i received a defective one? it was placed inside of the bag and rolled. that's why it gets wrinkled especially the inside part. Thank you:)
