Watching many "Ultrasonic Gun Cleaning" on KZbin, haven't seen many mention about after the Ultrasonic Gun Cleaning bath(simple green method), should I rinse with water or just blow dry with air gun ?

Another great cleaner is Balistol it is the original CLP it is a water soluble oil that cleans and protects and when done leaves a fine oil film on your parts. Also reusable by pouring into a jug with a funnel lined with a coffee filter.

Commented before I finished the video so you know about Balistol you can dilute with water and save a step in that your parts are already lubed.

save youself the hassle and mess of filling the unit with cleaning solution, put your parts in a good frezzer ziplock bag and fill the bag with the cleaning solution, then fill the unit with water and run parts are cleaned in the bag no mess to clean up when done. also I would blow dry all the nooks and crannIies. Also you may want yo use Distilled water to make up your solution...

I have been very underwhelmed by my Hornady ultrasonic cleaner. It doesn't do anything but strip all the oils out of the oarts and make the surface clean but doesn't remove ANY baked in carbon. I was using Lyman gun parts cleaning solution. Not at all.

could a person take an entire trigger assembly and put it in there without completely disassembling the part??? I would thing as long as you got it dry, it would work great. Unless it could hurt springs in some way?? I know this is an old video but I sure would like to hear from you! Thanks
@2AGunsmithingandFirearms
@2AGunsmithingandFirearms 5 жыл бұрын
Bill, as long as it's dry afterwords, it should be fine :-) I've seen and head of people doing similar things. Use compressed air to blow dry out large water droplets, then put it in the oven or use a heat gun/blow dryer to get any residual moisture out, spray in your favorite lube and it should be good to go.

Unless you completely break down a gun I can see moisture being left behind. Also it would remove all lubricants. I saw a gunsmith who after put all the parts in a rinse then in a lubrication solution. Now it’s lubed everywhere.

@@2AGunsmithingandFirearms The detergent solution should be rinsed with clear water before drying. Otherwise there is dried cleaner on the parts that will break down some of the oil you apply after the cleaning. Probably not a big deal but not ideal. But neither is using water. Why don't you use solvents that won't react with metal to clean the parts with?
