This is a capture of me playing through the arcade mode of Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers for the Nintendo Switch. I'm using my favorite character, Ken, and playing on the highest difficulty level: World Warrior.
If you've seen my prior Street Fighter uploads you probably already know that I'm a bit of a Street Fighter II fanatic. I've been a fan of the game since it released in the arcades back in 1991 and I've played all of the different iterations either in the arcade or on Nintendo systems.
When Nintendo held its big Switch unveiling in January of this year, I noticed a quick snippet of some Street Fighter II footage, and I instantly got excited. I hadn't played a new Street Fighter II title on a Nintendo system since Super Street Fighter II Turbo Revival released on the Game Boy Advance in 2002. In addition, HORI later announced that it was releasing an arcade stick for the Switch, which made me even more excited.
Ultra Street Fighter II has been out for a couple months now, but I held off on recording a playthrough of the arcade mode because I wanted to get the arcade stick first. The Pro Controller had a crappy D-pad that caused me to mess up moves all the time. Plus I've never liked having only four face buttons for a tournament fighting game like this. The arcade stick solved both of these problems and was just more fun to use overall.
In this video I played through the arcade mode on the highest difficulty level without losing a single round and faced Akuma at the end. I also enabled the classic graphics and sounds since I prefer them over the new stuff.
Even though I completed this on the highest difficulty, this game isn't that difficult overall. The AI was much tougher in the Super Nintendo versions of Street Fighter II, not to mention the original arcade versions. But even so, this is still a fun game.
Recorded with the Elgato Game Capture HD60 and the Switch's HDMI cable at native 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second. I'm using a Real Arcade Pro V Hayabusa joystick.
