I've got the same monitor also for over a year now. Still no issues with burnin (i don't even let my taskbar disappear). My screen can go to sleep after 5 minutes and often does a refresh then (at least, when it is time). I never was more satisfied with a monitor, than withe the AW3423DWF. I think it is a really great buy and most will enjoy gaming so much more.

I've had mine replaced twice already within a year because of 16:9 content and the black bars the monitor displays due to the ultrawide format. If you put up a grey background, you will notice the middle of the screen being slightly lighter due to burn in. Certain games (like valorant) does not fill up the ultra wide and most videos also will not fill up the ultra wide. Dell's warranty has been relatively painless, but I don't want to replace my monitor every 6 months so I bought the 360hz OLED they have to replace the AW3423DWF as my main monitor.

@@FalconStrikeGames I have it since 3 weeks ago. For now I really can't find a problem. Motion clarity is almost like CRT (even bettter than a 480hz TN pannel that I've had). Colors are really good, 96% adobeRGB,93% of NTSC. I've also had the 27 inch qhd oled from AOC but the color fringing was terrible and HDR perfomance was very poor. This on the other hand is perfect even with dolby vision. maybe the only thing to point out, the screen is really gloosy and reflect lights. So in a bright room the black are almost purple\violet tinted. In a dark room is perfect. if u plan to use it in a bright room WOLED panels are really a must for pitch dark blacks.

@RobsCorner
@RobsCorner 28 күн бұрын
I think it's simply because the biggest downside of Oled is burn in from static images and usually if your working you are more likely to have the same file or program open for 6-8 hours a day outlook, excel , CRM so most people aren't going to spend close to $1k on a screen for those purposes with the risk of it being ruined or damage from using it for that.

Oled is by far one of the best investment I made for my pc setup so far(I got the MSI 4k 240hz one, I also ran an older 27inch LG oled as secondary, which used to be my main 6 month ago). Does it have its annoyance, yeah, to prevent burn in I ran an all black desktop and I usually keep it around 60% brightness(which is bright enough for me). But I can live with this kind of small annoyance especially when the picture quality and motion clearity are this good.

I have heard oled monitors can suffer from VRR flicker. I might be buying the AW3223DWF soon, but need to know if it flickers when fps are not consistent and on the lower side. For example, on my current IPS when flight simming (MSFS) I have my monitor set at 144Hz but I lock the fps to 60 using RTSS. 60 fps is enough for flight simming imo, and this gives me a very smooth experience with lots of headroom for both GPU and CPU. I also read that if you can maintain a steady fps, like in my example, then the VRR flicker is not noticable. Haven't made up my mind yet between oled and ips for my next monitor. My GPU is a 4080 Super btw, so I'd use the gsync compatibility.
@RobsCorner
@RobsCorner 5 ай бұрын
I think its like you said if you maintain a steady FPS then its less noticeable, from what I've read it seems more of an issue when Gsync is enabled and you drop under 60 fps i think. It hasn't been enough for me to really notice. I have a 3090 but just remember that you need to select gsync enable then scroll down and check the box that applies it to the selected monitor or else you wont be utilizing Gsync on the AW3423DWF

7:20 Yeah say it to people who bought 1080ti when it lunched and they will laugh in your face. I also bought LG B9 first OLED 120Hz HDR TV to have Gsync and HDMI 2.1 (year before any HDMI 2.1 source device). I have it since launch and almost 5 years later it's mindbogglingly good. Are there better screens out there ? Yes but they are not a lot better and I've been using pretty much as good as it gets gaming screen for a few years. To summarize you can win tech lottery if you know your way around tech and have a bit of luck. With OLED I knew that everything up to this point will be obsolete and other oled screens that will follow while better will still ultimately be limited by what oled can and can't do.
@RobsCorner
@RobsCorner 9 ай бұрын
That's how technology works, it's not gonna be obsolete for a long time but 5 years in tech is a long time doesn't take away what your screen can do but there are new and better screen out there now. There is always minor improvements year over year before the major leap. just like now with screens there is less and less talk about TN panels eventually stuff get phased out over time. But your not going to change monitors every year just like your not going to change gpus every year.

@@RobsCorner That was my point. People who bought expensive HDR LCD monitors just before first viable OLED panels came into market lost big cause their panel lost most of it's value almost overnight while those who waited for first wave of OLED panels will reap benefits of this decision. Still those LCD HDR panel arent useless now but in hindsight they were a terrible buy. Not gonna lie I had a lot of luck picking all the right parts over the years. My worst mistake was choosing Intel over AMD when AM4 came out.

Ita very possible, I think with what we've seen at ces past 2 years companies investing heavily in OLED might be a few years before micro LeD gets all the benefits at a good price, then something better may come along after that and you can wait for that too if your happy with your display now its worth waiting if you want to upgrade there is always an excuse to wait for the next technology

My major concern is that my CAD program has a UI that doesn't really move around, and may cause burn in. But I really want an OLED monitor for PC gaming (I have 2 OLED tvs). Do you ever use a program where you have a UI that is static for upwards of 8 hours or so? Do you think this could cause issues, or would just require me to "Scrub" the pixels more often?

The most static UI I use would probably be DaVinci resolve, but maybe 4 hours of use at a time. Unfortunately I can't say for sure that having an 8 hour static ui on the screen will be ok or not but I believe if anything you might just have to do more pixel refreshes based on usage.
