The X2D is great if you're shooting images that are going billboard size or even large images for posters/swipes/bus stop advertisements. The X1D is more than I need for my studio fashion/portraiture work. We have been so spoiled over the last 15 years by technology that we are forgetting what a photographer's skill set should be! I know people who actually do professional campaign work just using an iPhone!!🤔 Put more effort into your composition/creativity than the camera's features!

coming from X1D2 the main things I really enjoy on the X2D are: - the IBIS - the flip screen - the V lenses smaller and with ZONE FOCUSING - coupled with the new focus assist system (they nailed it) 100mp is nice I wish you could shoot 50mp too. 220MB per file is insane
@gusatvoschiavon Жыл бұрын
yeah the 200mb files are crazy, i downloaded a raw from dpreview to see how it would edit and surprising it didnt lag anytime in camera raw on a photoshop from 2020 that i never updated lol

One point is that the high speed flash sync of X2D can up to 1/4000s that beats all other cameras

These guys at the marketing are so good each time to give us the will to get the last one 😮 I’m Leica SL right now and think seriously of the X2D… I tried the GFX system but the build quality and user interface didn’t convince me… Nice video and happy to see you again
@dcrilley96242 жыл бұрын
Thanks for a useful comparison and set of suggestions. I have plumped for X2D. There is no doubt the IBIS is the biggest change or advantage for most purposes along with the benefits of the BSI sensor and much improved EVF. Not sure that for most subjects the extra resolution over the 50 sensor is that important. Depends upon your subject and whether you intend/need to output big. The iBIS is about two thirds of a stop better than I the Fuji GFX 100. Currently, there are no V lenses in the UK market so I can't say whether their AF is a great improvement. What I can say having owned all iterations of the Fuji GFX system is that the AF performance of existing XCD lenses o the X2D is globally poor. really, no surprises there. However, while phase detect is now installed it is very noticeably and annoyingly way slower than the GFX. I operated the 45p on the X2D alongside the 45 on the gFX 100s. There is no comparison. The 45 P is accurate but its just painfully slow. No worry if you shoot landscape as I do but it would be a truly hopeless set up for anything moving its position in a way that you are not controlling. I offered to shoot a friend's very photogenic dog for a big print for his wife for Xmas. No less than 8/10 times by the time the AF had locked on the dog had moved its head position if only slightly. This is using the smallest, snappiest lens pre v series. Thus, while there must be some AF improvement over the X1D you have outlined, it is , I am afraid, currently way behind the Fuji GFX system for AF and that is accepting its simple , single AF point as the basis for comparison.

Left Hasselblad awhile back, had the X1D, and also tried out the X1D II, I do miss the raw files in general, even though its the MF Sony 50 MP sensor used in alot of cameras (645Z, GFX 50S, 50S II, Phase One IQ250 etc.. ) its still an amazing sensor, I maybe come back to Hasselblad soon, if I were, I would still get the X1D II, I wouldnt get the X2D, its just that 100MP is a bit too much, especially if you rarely print, and just use it mainly for web, heck even 50MP is too much, BUT just editing the files to what you want is very easy to do, alot of Dynamic Range, when I visit Tokyo again I'll look you up!! I visited the Hasselblad Flagship store there when the X1D was released.

Filmmakers use the big viewfinders because they are designed to be attached to the actual cinema lens they're going to use for the shot. So they use it to visualize where they want to setup the camera and with what lens.
compared to the best full-frame systems, do you think the hassy x1d brings a substantial upgrade in terms of image quality and color? i’ve been debating whether i should go for that or just make the convenient choice and get a high-end full-frame system instead

Thank you for sharing your experience. Looking forward to swapping my gfx 100s with the x2d. As nice as the 80 1.9 looks on the XCD side, I am not a fan of the focal length. I really have enjoyed the GF110 output for my work which is closer to the XCD 90. 2.5 though I see the XCD 90 3.2 on the market and it looks like it should be fine but not sure of its output. What I liked about my current system is that they are all fantastic. Having identical focal lengths remind me of full frame lens lineups hmm.
@jim60992 жыл бұрын
It still doesn’t have predictable auto focus and Hasselblad said that they have NOT claimed that they will release eye detect auto focus. It has single point focus so with any kind of predictable autofocus, it would be quite a jump to eye detect, wouldn’t you say?

Thanks for your view on this. I have both cameras, shooting on the X2D for 6 days now. Main difference for me is IBIS, ISO 64, faster processor, flip screen for shooting low down. The ergonomis is not as great, it is a big bigger and heavier. See my review/ comparison here kzbin.info/www/bejne/an2moIGAnNKZi9k. I also miss the direct access to Custom settings and the crop modes, though I think they will be back in a future firmware upgrade.
@UlyssesAokiPhoto2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for sharing the first-hand experience! I actually didn't know about it being heavier and bigger... I guess the IBIS and the faster processing & 100MP contributes to that?
@key2adventure2 жыл бұрын
Yep definitely, the IBIS takes up place, whereas I don't think the 100mpx sensor in itself is larger. But it's not a dealbreaker. So far I will keep both mostly due to the lack of crop modes in the X2D. I shot a lot of panoramas in the X-pan mode, and I love to view the image in panoramic mode in the viewfinder. Furthermore, my Techart Canon EF autofocus lens adapter doesn't work on the X2D, and I often shoot my Canon EF 135mm f2 and EF 100-400mm on this camera. I can control the aperture, though the AF is not very accurate.

would you imagine instead of upgrading the camera body - you would prefer to get one of the new lens they release?? maybe its not the focal length you desire so its not worth it. hopefully more cameras can come with internal storage in the future as well.
@UlyssesAokiPhoto2 жыл бұрын
That's a good point. I can't tell if the newer lenses contribute to faster AF speeds, I'd imagine they would because the shutter is in the lenses for the XCD lineup... but if they do, then they might be a steal. Especially with the lower apertures.

The biggest difference between the 51mp and 102mp is the simple ability to get.a better crop - in 34 yrs of shooting weddings I have never produced a final image which was not cropped - I have my X2D now with all 3 new lenses - it is far and away a better camera than the X!Dii - however there is one problem - what do I do with my 907x?

Great vid, thanks for sharing and also I like your images! I'm currently a Canon shooter (5D4) and it does everything well but I find myself not considering the shot sometimes and want to slow down and re-engage. It's difficult as I'm a lifestyle / documentary shooter but sometimes have to shoot faster moving subjects on certain commissions. I've been considering an X1Dll or the Leica SL2. I've also tested the Fuji GFX 100s and it was impressive but there's something about those Hassy files. Does the X1Dll have focus peaking when using in manual mode?

Another wonderful look at the camera...it's funny the fact that this is a Sony sensor..makes you think...Fuji has been in their own lane when it comes to "medium format" and "aps-c" for a long time..but in the sense if Sony wanted to go "after them" in the medium format game..they absolutely can and this "sensor" shows that they have the tech if they wanted to..but maybe the body design is still getting worked on if or when they will ever make a Sony Medium Format Camera..in my opinion maybe they should..because lets say some Sony photographers want to move up to "Medium Format" and if there no choice inside the Sony line..people will jump to Fuji for that need...business wise your going to lose some people in that sense, why not keep them in the Sony "camp" and have that "Medium Format" line...Fuji is probably not worried for now..but they know Sony maybe developing something in the future..I hope they do..

Finaly someone related to street photography touches the medium format cameras. What I would love to watch is a comparison with something more traditional like comparing this X1D ii with a Phase One digital back to whatever body you prefer. From what I know, in Tokyo there are a lot of stores that rent Mamiya 645afd and Phase One afd+ cameras with any back you want, so it would be interesting first of all to see the difference on the result but most importantly the difference on the experience that each option offer (which even though the 645 option will be the lesser one just due to the weight and bulk, I feel like there's still something to learn from that system for both studio photography and street photography alike). Have fun with your hassy!
