Nicely done Steve. I agree with your assessment on the out of the box regulator and consistent results. I was blown away by how well that 24-26 shots stayed on the mark in velocity. Also, great minds, I clean my barrels the EXACT same way using the EXACT same products, including the amounts of pulls. Thoughts and prayers go out to Cecil and his family as they deal with this terrible tragedy and I too have helped in the Cecil effort. Very nice of you Steve to support not only the industry but people in it.

I bought the Gauntlet 25 and the only thing I’ve had to do to it was adjusted the travel pf the trigger which was very easy to do. My rifle right out of the box with a 3-9x32 center point scope groups 1/4 inch at 25 yards and will knock down a ten pound iguana at fifty with the 28g Benjamin’s. The review is very good but in my opinion if you buy the gun from pyramid and pay ten bucks to have it checked out your going to get a excellent 25 caliber PCP that should give you reliable service, power and accuracy for a long time , and at a great price. The Chinese hit the ball out of the park with this one bringing down the price of PCPs to the regular person budget.

conky lives in sunnyvale - in my opinion the Gauntlet 25 is a simple rifle and easy to work on. I bought a kit with two sets of seals from captainoring.com for $12 - the rifle is basically a QB / Crosman souped up. There are many people who know how to work these guns and do not charge much for maintenance or repairs. On the other hand the Gauntlet 25 if you keep it always filled up with air to 3000 psi when your not using it the seals should last a long long time - I believe it will be a very dependable pcp rifle- but if you have the $ to buy the insurance that a personal decision.

Hi from (Quebec) Canada, the land of the regulated and restricted when it comes to pretty much everything and anything shooting related. I wanted to mention to you that your videos are amazing. You're very thorough, very personable and amazing at what you do. I find myself watching a lot of them for the quality of the content and the ease to follow, as you are very clear and take your time explaining. To continue on the subject, I just bought a .22 Guuntlet (like yesterday) and I'm trying to learn as much as I can one the model itself prior to its arrival. (Yep, it's not even delivered yet, that's how recent my purchase is!) Also, it will be my first PCP rifle ever (coming from the Springer types) and I'm quite excited for what PCP will provide me in new knowledge of the sport/hobby but less excited with the expenses it typically comes with. For the near future, I'll be using a hand pump to fill it, in order to lower my initial overhead costs, and also because I don't mind the exercise...for now 🤣) As for the fun, I'm assuming that when it comes to the .22 cal, it's pretty much the same review and methodology/technical details than the .25 in this video. Also, as I've previously mentioned, Canada has strict rules when it comes to anything "rifle". Let it be powder burning and or air gunning. As you probably know, it is prohibited here to have any type of silencing/moderating device that reduce the sound emittied from any type of rifle. So, our version has been specifically "Canadianized", by Umerex, to reduce any type of shroud/baffle. I'm definitely unhappy about that as you always try to reduce your footprint when hunting and it reduces the possibilities when backyard plinking. I'll have to deal with that on my own, unfortunately. Anyways, once again, very good content and keep it up. Ps. Any video recommendations for the beginners/virgins of the PCP world like myself (let it be in general or model specific) would be appreciated. Cheers

I almost bought a Gauntlet but after reading about all the issues I decided to wait to see if the factory was going to address them.. I ended up buying something different for less and feel that it is superior to the Gauntlet in many ways (to include fit and finish).. Got a Nova Liberty from American Tactical - wood stock, side lever action, 200 cc air tank - 4350 psi fill (300 bar), single shot tray, and two Marauder style rotary mags, adjustable regulator, removable open sights, two stage fully adjustable metal trigger, power wheel (high and low power - allows to shoot light pellets on low about same speed as heavy pellets on high), by shooting heavy pellets and setting the regulator for around 26 fpe, allows to shoot light pellets (7.4-7.9 grain) for tad over 12 fpe at around 850'ish fps on low power or around 1030 fps on high for around 18 fpe.. I set my .177 for 26 fpe pushing 16.2 JSB Beast at 850 fps or H&N 14.97 at around 885 fps.. It will push Crosman 10.5 on high at a tad over 1000 fps (24 fpe) and on low around 800 fps (15 fpe).. Pretty cool, depended on pellet weight and high or low power setting quickly move from 12-26 fpe and in between fpe's instantly.. And got 130 shot string when set at factory 17 fpe for the .177 - prior to turning the regulator up a tad.. Turned 3 holes counter clock wise on the regulator (tad less than 1/2 turn), put one washer in the hammer spring - 150 fps and 9 fpe gain.. Someone turned a .22 up for 51 fpe. 20% discount is available..

I have to mention that this rifle will fill a bunch of times to 3000 psi with a regular 80 cubic foot scuba tank filled to 3400 - the 13 cubic inch gauntlet tank makes it easy to access high power 44 FP without having to put a mortgage on your house to buy the expensive and hard to fill 4500 psi fiber tanks. I get 30 good shots with the 28g Benjamin’s - more than enough for the back yard safari. The 22 and 177 have issues with barrel movement because they lack the barrel band of the 25.
@johnnybarbar74355 жыл бұрын
I would be very surprised to hear that over 20% don't adjust the trigger so, do the simple tweeks on any rifle that needs it. We all know the huge sear engagements and mod to heavy trigger pull weights on factory rifles are for liability reasons and not adjusting them is a big hit to a guns potential.

Umarex has to market the Gauntlet 22 with the barrel band it put on the 25 , I’m just itching to buy it - many more shots, great accuracy and it can shoot the inexpensive CPs 14.3 - I’ve seen reviews where the shot count is up to 80 at 800 plus FPS. The barrel band is indispensable, it holds the barrel firmly avoiding shifting POI due to barrel movement caused by grabbing the rifle by the barrel. Please Umarex get with it Father’s Day is just around the corner.

The Umarex Rep. stated it was added to stop barrel droop and help stabilize barrels on the Gauntlet rifles. The new band will be added to all future Gauntlet production and will be available for purchase for current owners. I did not see the RWS Superdome .25 pellets in your review? A person would think Umarex would have tested their partner company's pellet during development of the rifle? How good are they? Any word on when you will be testing the Umarex Synergis? I know the .177 is first but I'm waiting on the .22 model for my purchase!!! Lastly thanks for sharing the tragic store about Cecil's family!!! Crying imoji!

Yes, Umarex USA President Richard Turner made the statement about the barrel band. RWS maybe a partner and not owned but it is the only brand pellet available on Umarex USA website. I have the .22 and I wanted to know if anyone else has had issues with the bolt action. When I have the magazine in and I'm loading a pellet with the bolt into the barrel its stuff. I understand the bolt action is stiff but sometimes I have to pull the bolt action back and push forward multiple times to load a pellet or even jam it with the bolt to get it loaded. Does anyone else have this issue??

Sounds as if something is misaligned or the pellet shape doesn't agree with the magazine to breach transfer. If it does this with round nosed lead pellets then something is misaligned or mis shaped in the breach

those 25 yard small targets dont really prove anything about barrels, unless the pcp is broken all of them will do that at 25 yards. Have you ever encountered one that didn't? Sick of the gauntlet now tbh, its just a qb78 with a ninja bottle and plastic stock.
@aeacvlog20335 жыл бұрын
My experience has been that culling at 25 yds tells me a lot about a PCPs tendencies. It's also an excellent way to reduce 20-30 potentials down to a handful, making video day 50 & 100 yards a lot easier. To specifically answer your question, yes. It's common in my world now to easily be able to predict a pellets performance at 50 & 100 after a day spent at 25. No, not all PCPs perform well at 25 with all types of pellet. In fact, it's the other way around. Best, Steve

Great video. Tip: When changing bottles or just replacing the top O-Ring on the bottle or doing other maintenance you don't have to empty the bottle. Just turn the bottle 1 1/2 turns then insert the degassing key and it will let out the air in the gun only or just cock and pull trigger 3 or 4 times then you can remove the bottle. If your hand pumping you don't have to pump up a empty bottle.
