Before becoming a tech advisor for Hoshizaki in 2012 I worked in the field for close to 15 years mainly on restaurant cooling and cooking equipment. Watch these videos kind of makes me homesick......especially since retiring 3 years ago.

Got to love that about any sort of sensor. Just because it’s telling you something you expect to see at first glance doesn’t mean it’s telling you what’s actually happening. Yes, a sightglass is a sensor. :P But yeah, whenever something odd is happening you always have to verify that your sensors are telling you what you expect them to be saying. I’ve been bitten by that in my day job as a software developer.

I trick i learned is that as long as you can pump out down at the king valve and the head pressure doesn't go up then you're good. Don't rely on the solenoid because the liquid line will hold extra refrigerant

That is one hiss a supermarket tech hates to hear. Might take 200, maybe 250lbs of refrigerant lol.
@FerdinandFake
@FerdinandFake Ай бұрын
I do supermarkets exclusively and very rarely fill more than one 10kg bottle. Every place has remote temp surveillance and for the most part even low charge switches in the collector, by the time I get there its just a low charge alarm or the last unit running warm, both go away after just a slight fill Sure it might still bubble slightly under maximum load, but the next leak is just around the corner and filling it up to the brim every time is pointless unless you make a profit on the gas and hate your customer.

That heat wave was absolutely brutal; Sept 6th, I remember that Friday. I was doing a maintenance on a single level office building in Colton, my temp probe read 122° in the shade at 4pm. Meanwhile there was that giant apocalyptic smoke plume to the northeast from one of those forest fires that were raging in the mountains. I was at the same location the day before but at a different building doing a maintenance, it was “only” 118° but the heat damn near almost took me out; I thought I was gonna have to go home sick. The following Monday we got multiple service calls for units with blown disconnect fuses, and who’s condenser coils were plugged up with ash from the fires. I’m amazed that none of the compressor terminals (at least the ones I went to) blew out from those conditions.

I don't work on a commercial refrigeration or residential air conditioning I normally work on automotive related application when you were talking about low side and not putting too much pressure on the low side well I was working on this vehicle and I missed it and had a leak in the evaporator core well I replaced evaporator core and the dryer and charging the system or attempting to charge system well is having a problem where the high side wouldn't accept and that's okay maybe I can prime the system with one of those 134a cans and just get it started maybe the compressor just ain't got enough in it too accept refrigerant that low side idea wasn't a good idea that I had done with the can I was watching the gauge it wasn't it went over into the green I just post to and I released and I'm standing there waiting for it too equalize when the line going into condenser on the low side let loose and and I was in wrong spot when it happened and I had about a half a pound of 134A squirt right in the face and eyes and I'll tell you this much I didn't know 1:34A could burn that damn bad but holy s*** it did but it made me think of it when you was talking about the low pressure side not over pressurizing it

you can order different types of condensing units for different outdoor temps. standard is a 90-95 degree i believe up to 120 degrees outdoor unit. you get bigger thicker coils to help get rid of the heat generated. most indoor reach ins have an 86 degree coil, temps get above that and it will start to struggle to cool.

So I had an idea after watching the video. You have electric defrost capabilities...I know for the application they aren't needed......well...why not wire them up hot on a switch in the evap and possibly up at the condenser......that way if that evap were to ever freeze up...you or your techs could flip the switch and....bam....you energize the heat to thaw out the coil. It would be used as an aid in thawing the coil and for service only. Thats why I said put a switch in the evap and at the condenser....that way if the customer got nosey and flipped the switch in the evap it wouldn't automatically turn on the heat, you would also have to flip the switch up at the condenser as well or vice versa. That can utilize what you already have available to help you and your techs on a service call......just a thought I had. Great video as always Chris
