Joseph Schwantner, one of the truly great and inventive composers of the later 20th century. I think he has added colors to the spectrum which did not yet exist until he came along to allow us to discover them. I am constantly amazed at the musical creativity of the human mind and what trails it blazes using a special code on pieces of paper. This piece was magnificently performed.

Good performance. I've heard from friends who have played this piece that the opening is tricky. Well done!!

Ecstatic, magnificent... Felt like my soul was pulled from my body by an Arctic gale. Full body goosebumps and salivation

wonderful performance, but would’ve loved if the trumpet fall at 4:19 was more apparent, or there at all. it’s a phenomenal sound effect, sucks that it was barely audible at all :(

Does anybody know from which composition by Schwantner is the theme from "Closer to truth" (the philosophy series with Robert Lawrence Kuhn) taken from?

Its decent, the crystal glasses arent loud enough because they are supposed to be right up front with the oboes. But overall not a bad performance. Having played this twice there is nothing like 4 piccolos going insane.

The best thing about playing this piece is nobody can tell when you screw up. And it’s about the only time you’ll be asked to bow vibes. Or use a water gong. Or have to tune wine glasses.
