See me unbox my new Kitchen Aid 6000 HD Mixer. I got in on the daily deal on Amazon it was a 429.00 mixer for only 248.00. You can click to Amazon through my portal here: www.amazon.com/...
So I unboxed the mixer when it arrived and I show how it works. See the video for details.

I'm from Australia the 6qt is nearly $2000. I've heard the 8 qt is fully stainless , including the attachments. But I've not seen them advertised in Australia. We work on 240 volt so that may be the reason. Love Kitchen aid, used one when doing a cake decorating course, they are so well designed. Thanks for the video.

Mary Kemp have you tried looking at Amazon’s global site. They might have 220 volts (I am assuming you need 50 Hz) with lower prices after shipping and custom’s fees and taxes. Make sure to register with Amazon before purchasing overseas under their tax return program.

Thé problem is nobody tests this mixer at it fullest capacity. With 12 cups of flour (it’s supposed to support 14 cups) it struggled to knead bread dough. The machine smelled bad and it stopped after 4 minutes of kneading. Changed it for an Ankarsrum

So how's the 6000 HD doing after 2 1/2 years doing bread? I got mine used in great shape last winter and have been doing bread for three months now, twice a week and just started milling my own flour using (almost) the same grain mill you reviewed in another video (mine's a magic mill III, it's practically identical to yours), your very informative video convinced me it was worth getting despite the jet engine scream ;-) My first tests produced great flour, but the bran flakes are huge... Any advice? Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Did you turn the dial down to the smallest size? You can also sift out the largest bran using a common fine kitchen strainer.

Yeah, it was at the finest setting; the flour itself is very fine. I've come up with a great idea: sifting the bran out and using it for covering the dough in lieu of flour prior to putting the dough in bread pans. That way I should have a more elastic dough yet still have the qualities of bran in the crust :-)

You can also remove the bran, pour boiling water over it, let it cool and then incorporate it back into the dough. The bran will be softer then and not cut up the gluten as much. You may have to adjust the water in the dough because of the extra bran water.

Great Idea! I'll try that next batch... I've been regrinding twice and it has helped... Making 100% Whole wheat bread sure isn't easy, but it's the only bread my wife will eat, but I'm getting there and any tip to make my work easier is welcome :-) Love the 6000 HD, never even gets warm even after 10-15 minutes kneading 2 500g whole wheat loaves :-). How's yours doing after t and a half years?

Thanks for the great bran soaking tip! I noticed into a gel and the dough held up amazingly well with 1/3 whole wheat, better than my last attempt with the same recipe. I will definitely try it next on 100% whole wheat next, for the bread my wife prefers but invariably turns very compact... Now if I could find a way to sift the flour automatically I'd be set ;-)

How do you feel about this mixer now that you've been using it for a year? I've been looking at it on Amazon for a couple of months, and just before Christmas the had a MASSIVE sale on it. I really should've bought it for $229, but I still haven't decided that it's the one for me. I love the fact that it has the powerful DC motor, but I hear that there is no pour shield and it tends to kick up a lot of dust when you're adding flour because of it. Also, I've heard that it may have a tough time preparing smaller recipes and may leave some of the ingredients stuck to the sides or in the bottom of the bowl. Finally, I've heard that replacement parts are difficult to obtain. What are your thoughts?

I love it because it suits my needs. I haven't had trouble with flour kicking up, I don't ususally use it for small batches of anything, it's easier to use a hand mixer and bowl for small batches. I haven't needed replacement parts, so I can say anything about that. For me, the higher powered motor trumps any of the negatives you mentioned. I think it's a great mixer.

Thanks so much for the input. I really should be kicking myself for not buying it when it was on sale for such a terrific price, but I'll keep an eye on it, and when it goes on sale again, I'll be ready.
