minor detail i forgot to mention in the video, the reason the logs back up in the presence of large trees is that that the end crystal cannot blow up the higher logs, and when this happens over and over, it often eventually creates a setup where the dirt block pusher gets maxed out in push limit. This can be easily fixed with a height limiter, but I forgot about that and didn't bother to fix it considering the other rampant design flaws.

Could it also be fixed by pushing the log up after you blow up the end crystal, so that it never gets blocked?

Sand can be traded for though. And duped. TNT itself can also be duped ofc.

End crystals need to be crafted ; they are as renewable as TNT is.

Blast efficiency = 1/Explosion Strength For example Creeper explosions have an explosion strength of 3, so blocks destroyed by creeper explosions have a 1/3 chance of dropping as items.

That's true for all explosions except TNT explosions in Java Edition, which have been specifically programmed to always drop blocks despite their explosion strength of 4

This tree farm is un-optimized in so many aspects. So good job xD. The comparator growth detection is basicallly a no go in optimized treefarms, as it steals a dispenser spot and usually we go for 3 dispensers in 1x1 tree farms. Other than that the detection isn’t instant with a comparator. So very well done un-optimizing xD.

Wither blast chambers were really common in 1.12, because iirc before 1.14 tnt didn’t drop 100% of the items. Also, they’re still used today because they’re a way to get around tnt duping for players who don’t want any form of duping.

In MCBE tnt duping doesn't exist, so we use ghast blasters and wither cages all the time! (Wither cages involve bedrock though so some people don't like them)

Couldn't you get more logs if you blew up the end crystal while the logs are being pushed up? I though that blocks in motion had a higher chance of dropping which is why old blast chambers used that method

Moving blocks lose their blast resistance, but they don't guarantee drops

@@squibble111 Before TNT had a 100% efficiency moving block destruction was how to get 100% drops. I have no idea if that would apply to end crystals but I don't see why not

I’ve been thinking of making a renewable-sand data pack which works by taking quartz, and blowing it up, and any block that does *not* drop itself would instead drop sand. The biggest problem with this tree farm would actually make it perfect for that.

I think finding a complex solution to a technical problem that's already solved through conventional methods is a pretty good flex to show off your understanding of mechanics. You can apply that out of the box thinking to unsolved problems and potentially make a breakthrough that others would not. Only in Minecraft though. The tech industry is now full of people finding inefficient solutions to problems that are already solved, which is not so great because it's real life and the human condition is affected by it.

To increase the efficiency you could crystal blast a wall of logs with a double piston extender to also break some leaves and to prevent it from hitting a push limit like in the test

Could you optimise the log yield by pushing the blocks upward at the precise moment the end crystal explodes? I seem to remember that the blast efficiency on ANY block that's being pushed while it gets blown up is 100% - iirc there were a few fully automatic cobble farms before TNT got updated to 100% efficiency. They were finnicky on timing but theoretically could you not apply the same concept especially since you're pushing the tree up anyway?

If memory serves, birch trees grow into roughly small oak sized and shaped trees, but lack a big oak analogue. It might be possible to keep it going just by replacing the oak saplings with birch. Arguably a pretty dumb solution, but this is an intentionally dumb farm so it kinda’ balances out.

1/3. Its based on explosion power, P in the equation 1/P. as shown end crystals have 6 explosion powrr and thus have 1/6 blast efficiency

Yes, because its not possibke to place an end crystal if the tree grows before the end crystal, and is a short one. Having a specific cycle dependent onnwhennthe tree grows is necessary.

You could also use standard block style tree farms(compressing the logs into a big 12 by 12 chunk) As stated in the video using literally any explosive to break blocks that isnt tnt is incredibly wasteful.
