Have a look at Douglas Murray's interview with Sky Australia about the UN 'peacekeepers' in Lebanon and how they've stood by - in contravention of UN policy - for 18 years, and watched Hezbollah build tunnels and launch rockets. If they're getting hit by IDF they need to withdraw; they've been a waste of space for nearly two decades and now they are just in the way.

Original idea was to have these NATO members in the way, because at the time a Soviet invasion from Lebanon was the fear... they knew this 9,000 man force spread over the entire border would be overrun, but it would give the west an excuse to get involved, similar to the US forces in Koreas DMZ. Israel is doing what they are doing because they do not fear a retaliation. See how the other comments are attacking the UNIFIL forces, because the west has spent 30 years conditioning its people to accept anything "to stop terrorism". This week, when Italy suggested anything at all in response to their forces being fired on, they were attacked in the press so hard they came back on to clarify not actually doing anything, just protesting. It is hard to say how this will end.

The UN as an organization may wish to review the effectiveness of their UN peace keeping strategy, and offer their (UN) staff employment elsewhere.
