first reaction... WOW ITS PRETTY!! Seriously one of the most sleek things I own!
EDIT: 3 years later and I am still using this as a city commuter, it works great!
if you are someone who goes on short rides around the city or to and from work, this is a scooter that has a lot of pep but also the design is ascetically pleasing to look at!

Excellent review! I was looking at one of these for a blast up Corro drive bikeway in to town (noticed you are in Brisbane). As it has a nice smooth surface, the bikeway is probably the perfect road for this scooter.

Very nice breakdown and review. I live in NYC, USA, and I passed on this due to the severely lackluster battery performance. It's beautiful, and it's a nicely done scooter, but for a few $ more I went with an E-Twow Booster GT SE.

Ya. Exactly! My inokim has air tires and I got a flat at the beginning of the pandemic and I couldn’t ride it for 3 months trying to get it fixed . Very annoying indeed

Yes, it's a design tradeoff we were happy to make. Changing scooter tires is a very difficult process, and most people are riding in more urban environments on scooters.

All electronics skateboards PEV’s should have a braking system like this. The harder you hit the break the harder the brakes are, if you slam the brakes all the way it should lock the wheel up. If you ease on the break it should slow down slowly.

Do you know if it can handle the hills in Sydney? Doesn’t have to be fast but can it do it? I want something as light as possible and small so I don’t take up heaps of space on the train but if I can’t get up the hill from Wynyard, it’ll be a bit pointless

i have only tried an Ebike..it was super easy, but i didnt get a chance to test the range or see what its like to charge.. boosted boards are great to, i just am hesitant on boards because if i fall off i might break my arm or wrist ( and my main job is a musician) so i like the scooters as far as portability, speed and control.

Started out wanting this one cuz they’re on sale right now for $590 but then I started looking at the turboant x7 pro and then the fluid mosquito. The fluid cityrider is very nice but I feel like the mosquito would suit me better. I just wish it was as pretty as the unagi one. Haven’t bought anything yet. everything is on sale pretty much. X7 pro $399, city rider w/ my mil discount will drop to $359, mosquito w/ mil disc $899 (which is way more then I want to pay for something I only need for a semester). Cost wise I should prob just rent an unagi and see if it’s for me. Reviews are saying that ppl get hurt pretty easy on this one though but it seems like it handles good. Idk what to do yet. Wish I could test ride them.

oh ya thats a tricky one. the segway is a bit cheaper, and has a bigger battery range, but that makes it heavier for transport, but also it doesnt have the one click fold and not as eye catching, honestly i would be on the fence with that one too. i suppose it boils down to how you would use it? do you need to go far?

Would love to see a comparison video now you’ve got a couple of scooters! I’m tossing up between this and the ninebot max30. Main concerns are product weight, tyre suspension, and the massive price difference. Any advice? I'm in Melbourne City xx

HI Kristen. Ya I aggree with you that weight, good suspension and low price are hard to get in the same check box lol...i need to get a hold of some of the newer scooters too... the ones i have (besides the Unagi) are like 2 years old and they are making the newer ones better and better. The unagi (im working on a follow up video for friday) its an incredible little city scooter... not long battery but super zippy but light and folds down small.. its just a bit heavier on the price. Ill keep looking. thanks for the comment sorry i wasnt able to give you more sound advice

Hope you had some teeth left after those Eagle Street Pier wooden slats haha. Nice and light to run errands around the city. Like you said though shame about the range , but after all it is just a commuter scooter. Awesome review, very indepth.

hahaha that made me laugh about the teeth thing... that eagle street pier is soooo bumpy haha! but yea, im hoping that the company is still looking to innovate and hopefully the model two will have better range but that really is the only downside to it. thanks for the comment! Love my G30 Gen 1 but it’s nothing on how practical this is, the range on this would be suitable as I never take mine lower than 1/3 capacity.

The Unagi ES500 (dual motor) scooter is TERRIBLE compared to my Xiaomi. Forgetting the price difference of Xiaomi costing a fraction of the Unagi. The only plus on it is that it climbs hills much better than the Xiaomi. The minuses are (1) feels much heavier than Xiaomi, (2) very rough ride to the point of unbearable when going on NYC roads (Xiaomi doesn’t have suspension but its inflated tires absorb most small cracks in the road), (3) no cruise control (in a $1000 scooter?), (4) no drum brake? (I really like Xiaomi’s dual braking feature when it activates both electronic & drum brake when you press the drum brake). The “no cruise control” and the “real rough ride” is a deal breaker for me so I’m returning it after 1 day of commuting with it. I’m going to look at UScooter GT/TWOW - everyone keeps raving about it! I’m really looking for a Xiaomi that would fly up hills like the Unagi and be as light as possible.

Under-powered, under-ranged, over-priced, awful ride quality - but ya, it's 'pretty' and portable. A toy for adults, but not a commuters tool. "Ludicrous mode" is just....well, ludicrous - c'on maaaan.

lol that is pretty funny . but yea i will agree with you on a lot of that. i like it for keeping in the car when i need to park far away from a place im giging in the city. it works really well for that, so i couldnt imagine it being great for more than a 6km commute
