As an aspiring magician who pretty much knows how these tricks are done I think it's cooler than being in the dark and wondering how he does it because of the incredible amount of skill that some of this stuff takes. Being able to move and speak so quickly while still executing these sleights perfectly is just art.

The sleight of hand here is absolutely insane. I see him do the first bit and go "Oh. Any amateur can do that trick". Then Tom signed the card and everything after was impossible to distinguish. I can see some moves here and there, but they don't correlate to what's happening.. I'm sure I could go through the video frame by frame and figure it out but why bother? This is so damn near perfect. I have not seen anyone as good in a long while.

I think you just thought like that on the first part because he was covering Tom's angles but not the camera ones. I saw through most of the techniques he used but he does it brilliantly both in technique as in performance...
@Excludos
@Excludos 7 жыл бұрын
+themaun Sure, but it's also child's play. I'm not a magician by any stretch, but even I know how to do those bits fairly easily. So when I see a supposedly good magician/sleight of hander use techniques even I know, it doesn't exactly impress me. But like I said, everything after the signature was absolutely massively impressive. I don't know how he did it, and I don't want to know. I'm satisfied with it just blowing my mind

I watched this video a couple of times last year and excitedly shared it with friends. Fast-forward to this year. Now I am more savvy about card handling. After a few recent viewings I could figure out how each effect could be done. Now I wish I could go back in time and un-learn magic techniques: this was so well performed that I want that wonderful sense of jaw-dropping amazement and mystery back.

Most of the tricks looks like is based on he actually having the card in his hand when he put his hand in the pocket, or having the card in his hand before he touched the box, and shaking in a way that you dont see where it really comes from. I sort of see how he do it, but it must have taken hell of a lot time to learn to do it that good without being too slow or screwing something up.

OK so I watched it through twice and I have all the moves BUT I can't figure out if the signed 6 of hearts is a red back (in which case the drop from the card case has some risk) or it's a blue back (in which case there's some serious skill handling a double at the end). My gut says it's a red back, but the fact I'm going to have to watch this x number of more times is proof of Steven's skill. Well done sir. Have an FU trophy!

Ekanshdeep Gupta The first trick is that, Tom touched a card and it turns out to be the 6 of Hearts, but that wasn't the card he touched, you can see Steven taking a different card. There is another 6 of hearts under the box. I dunno how the signed card went inside the box though. Then he shows the card went into Steven's back pocket. That is another card, when he removes that card you can see the 6 of hearts in his hand... Similar observation reveals a couple more.

I know this is a pretty old video and you've likely improved, but I'm going to comment anyway: - Nice palms, and your movement of the card was very smooth. - When you shook the card from the box you were a little too fast and violent (hence the card went flying), probably because you were worried about being discovered as your hand was facing the camera. Movements like that are going to instantly make people focus on what just happened and think 'wait, there was something there'. A gentler shake will look considerably more natural and won't arouse as much suspicion. - When you slipped the signed card into the deck at the end you were covered well from Tom's angle but not from the camera, and it ended up looking awkward/as if you were hiding it. If it hadn't been for that, I wouldn't have noticed what you did and would have had to figure out what happened by replaying the video. - I love the combination of the card under the box and a colour change. The audience sees the card with a blue back only for it to somehow become red by the end of the trick. Really adds to the illusion - did you design this version of impossible yourself?

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah this is my routine. I actually came up with it the day before. Me and Ollie Mealing spent a few hours jamming and messing with card under box. Thought it would be cool to combine the three effects. Definitely a lot could have been smoother. I'm pretty happy with the method for the colour change though as I think it really takes people by surprise and is very convincing.

Absolutely incredible video :O I honestly don't understand how you did that, and now I'm contemplating reality. Thank you for the great video! :D
