I’m 67 and I have watched a LOT of sports, many sports that Americans know little or nothing about, and I have refereed juniors playing, so I’m sympathetic to Referees, but I’m actually horrified by the APPALLING Refereeing in the WNBA during this last season! I have NEVER seen such blatant bias in any sport, anywhere else in the world! The cavalier attitude of the WNBA Commissioner is ridiculous! I saw things that would never be allowed on any sports field or in any arena. A pathetic excuse for a ‘professional sport’!

I just saw an Oregon player get ejected from the game for spitting on an Ohio State player. Not an eyepoke, not a body slam, or a hip check, spitting. He's out for 4 quarters, instantly.

The word missing in your comments is athleticism. Clark was a pleasure to watch vecause of her skill, her grace, her court vision, her team play that elevated her teammates. The rivalry between Bird and Magic wasn’t build on banging into each other, in was in things like the was Larry could shake free for a shot or the way Magic could zip a pass (hence his nickname). Clark has that ability to startle. A level of magic no one else in the league seems to have or appreciate.

I have not come across this perspestive about officiating. Are refs evaluated after each game as umpires are in mlb? I know "that's baseball" as they say. But, there is some correlation. Good umpires get the honor of getting to call all-star games and playoff games. "Bad" umpures get replaced by those in the minors. Do they need 3 refs to catch everything? Anyone "beat 'em up basketball is not what fans want to see. Team play, outmanuevering an opponent, and clean play brings in fans of the game. The refs are responsible for the safety of the players and should have the resolve to not allow roughness as that is not what basjetball is all about. Finesse is more important as that take an artist as CC is. Forget (or maybe not) the extra playoff games, I am with more of others and improve the officiating and stop the bullying as it has no part in this sport. P.S. outlaw the long fingernails as we are not watching a style show, we are watching a sport contest.

I downloaded the WNBA rules Apart from the size & position of player numbers & names, there are no uniform rules or any rules prohibiting or limiting long fingernails or the wearing of jewellery, leggings etc.. So it is no wonder the WNBA has devolved into a fashion show rather than an elite sport. What is the fashion of wearing one legging? If this was a real sport then all team members would have to wear the same legging on the same leg. Just a question? Do many WNBA players have personal makeup artists for game days.
