I was rewatching the series while having a philosophy class in university. And came across how the Greek (I think it was Aristotle but I don't remember surely) believed that virtues were the middleman between two extreme bad things. For example greed is bad but giving up everything for others is also not beneficial for you, so they believed you stand in the middle. I think Chitanda had the same idea that Greek philosophers had so that's kind of cool. (I had to translate everything because I saw the content in another language sorry but it is useful information to know.)

I love how you see the ideas so clear, It's really hard for me to catch the context of the shows like Hyouka that didn't explain anythings.

Like Oreki Houtarou said in ep 6: "It's just a sense of degree", every thing has its limit. We were told to avoid all of deadly sins, but the fact that we should find the balance to not be in one of any sins and makes the sins ruin your life and your personalities

Hyouka it's my favorite anime, you will not regret watching it, I hope. I recommend watching slowly-paced because it's a series that makes you think a lot. Trying to guess the solution to every mystery is pretty entertaining, and the development of the characters and relationships is something that let me so interested Sorry if committed any mistake, English isn't my mother language

The ending had me disappointed and mad, why did he have to imagine saying that
@Luis-cc8vv3 жыл бұрын
ngl at first I was a little disappointed and confused. But the original source of the anime doesn't have ended where the anime has, so have some more chapters to be adapted. However, tbh, now I think it's a very good open ending. Oreki's action is very cohesive because making big promises doesn't seem like something oreki would do. Even if they like each other, maybe they still young to decide, for example, where they will work, and responding to chitanda's "confession" based on momentary feelings, could not be a good idea. So, I think was oreki's insecurity or prudence idk that made him interrupt confessing his feelings. However, he doesn't have rejected chitanda, It's clear he wants to be with her. Throughout the anime, chitanda has been the reason for oreki change the way he perceives how he's been living, which was very grey, we can see it by his famous quote: "If I don't have to do it, I won't" So, it's just natural that we think they will continue together, at least for now, even because that promise oreki almost said, is the feeling he had been developing towards her in the entire anime. I think this is the story the anime tells: oreki's journey letting his grey life into a colorful one Sorry about my English, I'm still learning

I understand that disappointment, but after rewatching I’m actually ok with it tbh. It at least makes me want to read the source.

It actually suits oreki's character. Of course fan service is what we always desire but in his own special way , he does very well convey a little bit of it to her. Besides the LN still continues , they wud have gotten another season if the arson thing didn't happen.
@blackman71863 жыл бұрын
You've gpt it wrong... Oreki isn't humble rather he actually believes thst he's not special, his ideology is just a facade to escape from reality... He thinks he's not That good in anything neither bad in anything.... He thinks he's neutral... We all believe that we're the main character but he doesn't...
@UnbelievableCider3 жыл бұрын
I don't think I was necessarily wrong from my understanding. Modesty is avoiding assumption and viewing your own abilities as moderate, even if they really are far from that. So, yes, he did actually believe that he wasn't special, but it is that ideology which made him modest. Whether it was his intention or not, he was being modest at an extreme level. I think you took my use of the words "humble" and "modest" as he was intentionally acting as such with full knowledge of his impressive abilities. That is not what I was trying to imply. I could've used a better word, but I couldn't really think of one at the time. I'll make sure to be aware of things like this in future scripts, so thanks for pointing it out.
