As a white 52 year old, I love Akala, he's the Don. You should look at his studio tracks like 'Carried Away', also check out his other fire in the booths, all 4 of them. Also Lowkey's FITB is worth a watch as he's another conscious rapper.

This was one of the early FITBs, it set a level. People knew if they did one they had to bring their A game. As a result it produced many memorable FITBs over the years. Akala part 4 raised it to new levels. Glad you picked up it was done in 2011. It’s as relevant today as it was then.

Akala (pronounced like impala for you yanks 😉), this part 1 is a lesson on the systems that are in place globally regarding race and poverty that haven't changed in a long long time, he has lectured at Oxford on this subject and his knowledge is exceptional, check his Ted talks and his other FIB's, plenty more fire in the booths to dive into, wretch 32/avelino is a good one to try, lowkey, mic righteous/reckless, fredo, kano, dave to name just a few, if you like hip hop then the UK has been flying the flag for the last decade, not a mumble in sight

Lads he's an actual scholar with a masters degree and has been on question time which is a programme in the UK where they get the top politicians on to take questions from the audience and he went on as an opposition and held his own . I'm white and grew up in a town in Scotland with literally No black people but I've done time in jail for fighting and I can relate to most the shit he says on this. The one thing I will say and I know this will get a mixed reaction but I'm open to anyone who disagrees . Everyone no matter how well intended is at least slightly racist. I'm not saying there is hatred vocals I'm white and living with a woman who's an RME teacher but her parents heritage's Pakistani and Indian. She hated the way she was brought up and is actually an atheist but until I met her I'd have looked at her and judged her as some Muslim white hating person. It turns out she is the most lovely amazing person I have ever met

Been watching you guys for a while on here now but only just getting around to commenting. Glad to see yous react to Akala - just like with Karl Pilkington, it's a great rabbit hole to do down and discover new things. Been a fan of Akala since the very early days of his career so the only thing I'd say (which I think I saw someone else mention) is to react to all 4 parts in order so you get to see the progression over the years. A lot of reactors either only do part 4 or jump straight from 1 to 4 and skip the others. Due to the speed of some of the lyrics and also the content included, watching back in your own time with the lyrics up on the side can really help you piece it all together as you're not gonna get it all in one go
