CORRECTION! Thank you to several people who pointed out to me that the bag in this video that I call the Crescent (style 9235) is actually the Saddle (style 9988). The Saddle is an updated version of the Crescent. They are almost identical except the Crescent has a vertical seam running along the center of the front flap (Saddle does not have that) and the Saddle has a back pocket (Crescent does not have that). I see a lot of listings with different bags that people call "saddle" and assumed it was used as a generic term for a style of bag (which it is) but I didn't realize that when Coach updated the Crescent they also changed the name and style number. I never want to spread false information so I appreciate it when people let me know when they think I've made a mistake. :)

It’s fascinating seeing this interest in these vintage Coach bags! I remember them all very well when I used to shop at their flagship boutique at the Glendale Galleria in California, back in the early-mid 1990’s. Idk if you’ve mentioned this in your videos, but fun fact, the large duffle bag was in the movie True Lies, a beautiful dark brown. I mentioned this to a sales associate (back in 90’s) and she said yes! The actual bag actually came from their flagship store and they had bought 2! As you may or may not know, one was destroyed for a scene. It was owned by Jaime Lee Curtis’ character! I have the regular sized duffle in black and I also have the matching brass key chain.

I wish I had kept all my catalogs too! What you are calling "folded leather trim" is correctly called "binding". That olive green was a later shade from when I worked for Coach. The only green we had was Forest Green. I am curious what year your Duffle Sac is from, because Bottle Green is also not a shade name I have heard of from when I worked at Coach? I am now looking for a few styles I was too young to appreciate back then and I am amazed at what the bags are going for now! Julia

I actually purchased a 2012 re-release Coach bag this weekend but will resell it. The leather is quite different (thinner, lighter) to the vintage Coach bags. I’ve read that the Court bag was the predecessor to the modern day Cassie bag - controversial as some believe the Cassie bag was inspired by Louis Vuitton’s Pochette Metis. In terms of ideas for future videos, I’d love to know which models have included a pigskin suede interior. Some Italian made, but which?
@AutumnBeckman3 ай бұрын
I think I read the 2012 re-release collection was part of the lightweight line but I could be wrong about that. If correct, it would explain the lighter leather. I am firmly on the side of the Cassie being a copy of the Pochette Metis. I'm not sure where the idea came from that it's a redesign of the Court. It has a few things in common with the Court but almost everything in common with the PM, one of LV's most popular bags at the time. That's no accident. Pigskin interiors!?! I hadn't heard of this yet! I'll look into it. I do have a video on made in Italy bags coming (eventually).

I think that’s the Saddle Bag, not Crescent Bag? Crescent Bag has a middle seam on the flap with no pocket at the back of bag and I think the strap is shorter. The Crescent bag is also selling for more than the Saddle Bag because they are older from the 1980s while the Saddle Bag was from the 1990s? The style number from the Saddle Bag is 9988. I know this because I just bought one myself and recently did a bit of research on them. Congrats on beautiful bags!
@AutumnBeckman3 ай бұрын
You're right (which you already knew)! Thank you for bringing this to my attention. When I was looking for this bag I saw both names used but I thought people were calling it a saddle bag in a generic way (there are so many listings for different Coach bags that people call saddle bags). I didn't realize Coach changed the name and style number when they updated the Crescent so I really appreciate that clarification.
@OrangeIsTheNewBag3 ай бұрын
@@AutumnBeckman I wonder sometimes if some sellers are willfully ignorant and confused the two deliberately given that the Crescent can often sell for twice the price even when they are practically the same bag. The only difference is collectibility. At least for now. As you know the collecting community in any area of collecting can be quite fickle!

Oh my gosh, years ago I bought a court bag at a Salvation Army paid $5 but did not come with a strap. I recently sold it for $20. Sellers remorse for sure😡

As being what you young ladies are calling “older ladies with their vintage Coach bags”, I am curious if others truly understand how the quality of those bags was exquisite. Having in excess of maybe 40 bags, hoping the quality represents the tradition that used to be truly Coach.

The Madison may be older but the leather is not the “old” Coach as that green is from a newer era. Is “vintage” in the eyes of the beholder?

I haven't said anything about older ladies with Coach. I don't equate the two. Lots of younger women love vintage Coach. In fact, I saw 2 younger women with vintage Coach bags at our local farmers market this past weekend (a city bag and a classic pouch). Not sure how much of the video you watched but I did say that the Madison satchel is not vintage but a 2012 remake of the original vintage version. The leather is a little thinner but just as lovely, in my opinion, as my other vintage Coach bags.

I don’t recall the person who did say that, I mentioned for “entertainment”😊 as my daughters are avid c😅lectors of the good stuff. I’m happy to see a renewed focus on my beloved obsession, appreciated your very detailed research.

Your Devon is Bottle green
@AutumnBeckman3 ай бұрын
Dave! I know who you are and that you know what you're talking about. Here's how I arrived at forest green on the Devon. Please let me know why I'm wrong so I can learn. I found the Devon listed as a new release on page 16 of the 1992 Fall special edition Coach catalog. The only green listed for that bag is forest green. The registration code on my bag is 0485-311 which, if I'm correct, means it's from 1992 (first year the Devon was released) or 1993 (before the new registration numbers in 1994). Plus my green Devon is a MUCH different green from my bottle green Duffle Sac (registration number 1097-201), though I know dyes can very over the years. Am I still wrong? Was the Devon also released in bottle green with the xxxx-xxx registration number format?

@@AutumnBeckman By golly your right. It is just so bright green, i was thinking forest green was gone by then and the color is much brighter than i would expect from forest. My Bad!

Ah ha! That must be because of my filming light. It makes things look brighter than they are. Thanks for writing back. :) Interestingly, I had someone leave a comment on this video saying they worked for Coach during the 70s/80s and hadn't heard of bottle green. They said the only green they remember from that time was forest green. I haven't perused all the catalogs to track what colors they had when but that would be a fun project and a good resource for people. I'll add it to my Coach research to do list. ;)
