The love behind such a special gift will probably be what Tim will cherish the most. Firstly, his church wanting to do something special for him. Secondly, the one person in his life who knows him better than anyone on this earth was involved in helping to successfully bring this project to fruition. And thirdly, the choice of a rebinder whose skills are worthy of turning a textbook like Bible into a work of beauty. How very blessed Tim is!

I am a pretty typical mainline Protestant (United Methodist) of my age (66) and my preferred Bibles are the NRSV and the REB, and I’ve not used the NIV much, but that is a Bible I would be pleased to own. What a lovely gift!

Even though choosing a Bible as a present for a fellow Christian, especially a pastor or an ordination candidate, could be considered old hat, your husband will, judging by the looks of things, certainly love and will cherish it, especially because that was your idea, and will love you that much more because of it!! You husband is among the most fortunate of men, one reason being that you are his wife!! I say this as a Christian myself, and as a happily married man!!
