In 3rd grade, we had an animal assignment where we would make a model of our subject and give him facts about them. My best friend picked the Black Widow before I could, and I was so mad, when it was my turn I told the class my animal was the WHITE Black Widow. Nobody believed me (I mean I didn't either because I made it up). I never even did the project because I was so lazy, but I am so glad to know that young me knew this was a real spider.

One of those little spider beetles was in my hair the other night when I was in bed, scared the absolute crap out of me. I’ve never seen them before. I have a feeling it might’ve come in,in my birdseed. It was quite beautiful. I took some pictures of it and let it go.

I have always been afraid of spiders (my mother passed her phobia on to me when I was very young). Your videos help me a lot to learn more about them, to understand them and to overcome my fear. I think Mantids might be my favorite insect. I used to catch them all the time as a kid, feed them crickets and let them go. Did end up catching a female that laid eggs, that sadly never hatched. Found one last year in the road, it was quite fiesty as I moved him to a safer area.

I was actually considering jumping into getting my first Mantis, I absolutely love all Mantis, they are fascinating and prob would be one of the most terrifying predetors to us if they were our size. I was looking at getting either an Orchid Mantis or maybe a Cat-Eyed Mantis, it'll be a while because I want to make sure I do enough research to give it a proper enclosure so it will be happy and healthy.

Black Widows are a docile spider. They won't bite humans out of anger contrary to belief.There have been no deaths attributed to Black Widows in the U.S. in 40 years. I've handeled them they are quite amazing when understood. Love the vids thank you for keeping people informed!!!!

Hi! my name is Amanda Pennington I live in Southern Indiana. My husband Brian and I are big fans. We have 2 tarantulas. aphonopelma chalcodes and a grammostola pulchripes. I was using top soil and coco fiber. Sunday I changed out to Reptisoil. I like it so much better but it raised the humidity and I was wondering if I should had some coco fiber or moss in there? I haven't seen them burrow since changing bedding and usually they do.

As always fun and informative! My grandson is always happy to see his “spider lady”. I saw white widows when I was overseas, they are super odd looking when they are big because they are a widow but the coloration makes you do a double take. Very cool.

There are Red and brown widows as well. Reds are native to Florida. You can see the hourglass its a brighter red then the color

That white widow was a surprise. Really nice. I ran into Tye Dyed at a show last year I think and everything I seen they were selling was nice and everything healthy. We have a SHIT TON of Black windows here in NC, however I think I have seen one white widow, I dunno if it was actually a widow but it had the same body shape and the same mannerisms, I watched it a while before I went back inside after playing in the grass when o was little.

Those are neat little enclosures & I like the spider beetles. Almost makes me want some too. Then I remember I don't want to do the research on even an easy one like the spider beetles. So none for me. Ahlso my cat thinks bugs are jyst moving kitty treats. Sooooo probably nothing would happen because he is lazy & wants me to hunt for him. It's just that i won't have animals I'm not fully committed to keeping properly. So no fish or snakes either.

Do you have a Nosferatu Spider? I‘m living in Europe, Berlin. And these spiders actually are located at areas around the Mediterranean Sea. But now we have them in the north-east of Germany and in the whole country/Europe. Close to the polnish border… they were wandering across the alps… it‘s so crazy. Hello global warming. We don’t have that much spider which are venomous. Just Araneus diadematus, Cheiracanthium, Argyroneta aquatica and now Zoropsis spinimana. It behaves like a tarantula if she/he feels threatened. A lot of people freaking out here… lol 😂

Yes this Is called Latrodectus Pallidus normally its called White Widow and Yeah its kinda rare to find this spider and its pretty cool for me. But not only this one also the Red Widow (Latrodectus Bishopi), the normal Black Widow (Latrodectus Mactans) and the Brown Widow (Latrodectus Geometricus).
