Hello Gale. I enjoy your videos. My grandfather, Lou Brunette, raced inboard tunnel hull boats in the '70s and was a national champion in his class with your engines. He always spoke highly of you, and said your motors were the best. I met you at a Parker Enduro race when I was a kid. You were busy working on one of your motors in his boat, and I ended up with one of your early red white and blue t-shirts with a motor and your name on it. I wore it until it fell apart. Anyway, I have many fond memories of that time, Every time I see one of your product decals or videos it always takes me back to that time period. It's good to see you still doing what you do best!

I work with these on a daily basis during my day job on an Oil Refinery. They are superb bits of kit which not only do flow, but density, pressure and temperature as well. Just 1 tip for you: Keep them clean. If the coriolis tubes get coated up with muck the density reading increases because of the coating and can throw the fuel flow readings out. It was also nice to see it all being explained and paying reference to De Coriolis as well. Well done.

I use these meters nearly every day at a chemical plant. Ours are about five feet tall and and use three inch pipe. We can put whatever we want through it and it will calculate the density and display the rate of flow, which the totalizer uses to determine total weight. Once the target is reached a program automatically closes the valve and shuts the pump down. This is how we send base chemicals in the proper quantities to our reactors. They can be sensitive to outside vibration if not mounted properly.

Im curious on how the distance of where the measurement of flow is taken to where the fuel is consumed is compensated for when trying to look at the transient consumption of fuel. Also if there is a correction factor for supply temp/pressure and the same for the return fuel. I guess knowing density helps there. All very interesting.

Industrial technician here. For best results always maintain back pressure on the flow meter. Cavitation in the bends of the pipe and where the flanges connect will absolutely throw your readings off. Also you should buy an accurate scale to put your fuel cell on. This will be your check to make sure your K-factors are good on your meters Also shame shame on not going with a MicroMotion lol

We had to get a $2000 oval gear flow meter for oil flow in our heat exchanger testing system at work: Testing ain't cheap, especially when it's a non-homogeneous fluid that you have to deal with metering. In heat exchangers, one can use an easier-to-compute-at-all-conditions fluid like water instead to save money, but we know engines don't like water as fuel.

@bmstylee
@bmstylee 4 жыл бұрын
That would require the series to adopt modern technology. But they are more concerned about stupid chases and doing heat races essentially to try to get people to watch. Which they are not anymore. Even Bristol has empty seats. If you can't sell out Bristol you have issues. Bill Jr has ruined Nascar plain and simple. Once a car lands in the seats at Daytona or Talledaga that will be the end of NASCAR.
@brandonclayton7251
@brandonclayton7251 4 жыл бұрын
The truck series, even though a top racing series, is under funded with teams having to scrimp and save every dime and nickel. If you want modern technology go to cup. If that's not enough wait till next year and they debut the next gen car. I think you mean Brian France, not Bill Jr. All sporting events have had issues filling the seats, not just Nascar. Attendance has picked up the last couple of years. Don't be a Debbie downer, if you don't like what you see, then move on and quit commenting on Nascar comments. Your negativity is not wanted.

@@brandonclayton7251 yes. Brian. Brain cramp at the time. Sorry I told you the truth about the series. It's a joke of series. You mean the UPS 'football team' kept the device intact without a scuff or sent in the box?! An $8,000 instrument to my doorstep.........I picture side bets and all but dragging the box by parachute cord to get it there lol. Joking aside, I'm in awe every episode listening to "The Man" Mr. Banks, open the scientific archives of his mind about performance of anything because he absolutely is "Thee Man" in the performance and horsepower world. I have exactly nothing of knowledge in the horsepower with spark plugs world and some knowledge and better understanding of horsepower in the oil burner world, but when Gale starts elaborating into what creates horsepower, why it happens, when it happens, how much air is there to make it happen...............I feel like everyone else is a knuckle dragger packin a bigger club to make more horsepower "this I-beam will fit through that bolt hole if I hit or push it hard enough" mentality. Not saying at all that other engine builders or performance shops aren't smart enough or use as in depth engineering type thought processes, I mean that Gale is the only person showing it so far as I've seen. Goes back to the old adages "work smarter not harder" "slow is smooth, smooth is fast" (I was told this by many men as I entered the equipment operating field of heavy construction and mass excavation, slow and horsepower kind of go against each other at first thought but Gale brings it all together with smooth horsepower) and with those two sayings from the first one you gather 'efficiency and productivity' and the other 'productivity and consistency' which to me all says Gale Banks in what often times seems like a "strong back, weak mind" diesel industry where more fuel and more air (more bigger turbos) are the only way to make power, well figure out how to make it stay together later lmao
