Love the way Adam and you distributed the explanations, nice and detailed assembly for the tech lovers here and application without too much detail about construction for people who like the firewood stuff. And for the people who like both, including myself, just watch both :) Keep up the great work! Improving it with an extra latch or a pin just to lock it in place will definitely improve safety. Another idea would be to add some dampening or to replace one or both (depending on the amount of force required) of the gas cylinders with a linear actuator. In the latter case, you might want to use a force arm

My hats off to Metsa for getting these trailers to you & Adam. I obviously haven’t seen Adams, but if it’s anything like yours, home-run! That was an excellent video, teaching how to keep from making mistakes, ask me how I know. I am right with you on making a bracket of some sort to keep from accidentally tripping the dump lever. See you in the next installment.

Thanks for the video Doug. A very interesting trailer that would work well here on the homestead. What concerns me, and I'm hoping you can show in future video, is how difficult it is to manually lift the dump bed with a heavy load (rated 3300lb max). With the pivot point that far rearward, even with the powerful struts, I have to imagine you're having to apply a good bit of grunt force to lift. They do offer a hydraulic assist version, but it's significantly more expensive. So if you could show, with say a full heaping load of soil, how much effort is required to lift, I'd be grateful. Ready to pull the trigger with positive results. Thanks again! Paul in Central Texas

Like the safety aspect of this video. I think I’d put a clamp or mole grips on that toggle release full time. In its designed state that’s an accident waiting to happen.

A simple safety chain for the latch might be the solution. Blessings brother

Great, detailed video Doug. The strut demonstration really shows the power of those things, quite the danger situation when I installing that part and flipping over the trailer. The safety pin/latch addition will be a good customization. If I may suggest, as I’m sure others have, a wireless clip on microphone will help these videos a lot. The volume difference gets a bit frustrating when you are up close and far away in the video.

Quick safety might be a little chain loop and a carabineer to somewhere on the bed.
@woodintheblood4104 Жыл бұрын
I would say don't worry about a second latch. Instead get used to keeping the bed in the up position. No worry about accidental release and any rain or other liquid will auto drain out the back. Just my thoughts. Nice trailer!!

Not to mention Doug, but keeping the Manufacturers' "Zerk Fitting" caps will also keep debris from potentially clogging the spring-pressurised ball of the fitting as well as looking cleaner! For the rear strut Mounts, may I suggest a washer and maybe threading a ¼-20 bolt in there with a Nylock nut? (As I do not know the diameter of the hole, or a split pin?

Doug, I know it doesnt eliminate the risks completely but would it work to add a chock to where the bed / frame intersect and store the trailer in the up position so the shocks aren't loaded? Would also help if it is stored outdoors to avoid gathering rain.
