how well does it work for a backyard uncovered patio as a heater when BBQing or having a drink and or a smoke with a buddy?

I have a man cave ina 3 car garage about 650sq ft with 8ft ceiling. I wonder if the double headed will be better than this? We are spending christmas in garahe playing pool, darts and foostball. Garage and doors are insulated and garage gets around 45-50 degrees farenhight cold in garage

My barn is about 1150 sq. ft and the one head on LOW works quite well... No need for anything larger. It takes a while to get up to temp but it keeps it there with a big 40 lb bottle of gas.

I had to tie down my button because no matter how long i hold it when i try to let it go the heater cuts off
@possumfarms10 ай бұрын
That sounds like a problem with the "thermocouple". When the thermocouple gets hot it will keep the valve open. I have to hold the button down until the top gets glowing red hot - and then release. AFTER the thermocouple gets good and hot. Thanks for your comments!

I just got mine from amazon, and am thinking it may be overkill for emergency heat in the house. What is the closest you would reccomend to the ceiling?
@possumfarms11 ай бұрын
I would NEVER EVER use this in the house... EVER! For a drafty barn with a HIGH ceiling, sure, in a house - oh hell no! When the barn is all closed up and the top ridge vent is open, and running this thing for hours - you WILL notice yourself getting a headache. Which means it is time to open a door and go outside for a while! Because it is the first signs of carbon monoxide/dioxide poisoning... DO NOT USE THIS INDOORS! :) Ya know, unless you already have all of your funeral plans all in order....

I know you are not suppose to, but sometimes you have to do what you gotta do. I know enough to crack a couple windows and watch for symptoms etc. I have used the sunspot heaters in boats during the winter. It is either that or freeze when you have no power. Mr. Heater needs to invent a cheap heater that you can vent through a window.

You need to vent the CO2 that collects along the floor. Will also make a lot of condensation. My Ai (artificial intelligence) says my 4-bay barn needs for me to open two of may garage doors up 6 inches and blow a fan out to be sufficient with this heater.

I usually leave the barn doors open a crack at the bottom... Maybe I should use more than a crack? :)

How long does 40lbs last?
@possumfarms3 жыл бұрын
Good question, I use it intermittently - so it goes for days and days....
@davidharris8861 Жыл бұрын
50,000 BTU= 1gallon of propane per hour. So it depends on your settings.

could I use a force heater in my fully insulated 3 car garage about 630 sq ft with 8 ft ceilimgs for Christmas? I have a pool table in there and we will probably be playing pool during Christmas. I have some gaps around garage doors and also a 3 to 4 gap under door that goes to yard. So I don't know if this will be enough ventilation? I know force heaters are loud but we will have the music playing:) eventually I will get probably a Mr cool 18000 btu minisplit system to heat and cool garage. I also have a gym in there. I live in Clovis ca with a zone 9b I think
@possumfarms3 жыл бұрын
Get the mini split! This thing puts out a LOT of heat AND CO2... I use it in my barn because it has lots of ventillation with roof vents and lots of gaps around the garage doors... Not to mention, this is a HOT little SOB that will burn the heck out of you if you happen to bump up against it with anything!

Good real world review. Looks like might be overkill for a garage tho. Maybe a "sunflower" Mr heater better choice?
@possumfarms4 жыл бұрын
I have had good luck with the "sunflower" type in my greenhouses for a number of years. This one puts off WAY too much heat straight up for anything with an 8 ft. ceiling! But for the barn with a high ceiling, it's no problem... Thanks for your comment!
