Great video. To your knowledge does this reel have a mag sealed line roller bearing? Diawa's website mentions only mag sealing in the body yet saltiga 2020 has them, if not, will be interesting to see if the line roller quickly has problematic.

Thanks mate! To my knowledge I believe the line roller bearing is magsealed. I’ve fished this reel many times, almost every week and I have never had trouble with the line roller. However, like any reel making sure you wash the reel with fresh water after a fishing session goes a long way to helping the reel in top condition

@@HaiFishing same but I have the previous 5k Certate model, it is a nice reel. I originally wanted the 6k size but 5k was the biggest one at that time. Still want a 6k size tho

Hi mate, great clip! I recently purchased a 5000xh which was blessed yesterday by 2 legal kingies on it's 2nd and 3rd cast using a squidtrex! Gave me good vibes for my new real 😊 My only concern is why there is no rubber seal at the handle joint. All my certates and luvias have the rubber seal. At first i thought maybe i had lost it. Seems like water could get in considering the grooves cut out in the handle base. What are your thoughts about this?

Hey mate, thanks for watching, glad you’re enjoying your new reel! Daiwa seem to have designed their reels so that there is no need for a rubber seal as the handle joints have a double locking seal on them already and the main gear is sealed internally it seems. I also own the 22 Exist 5000-CXH reel and it does not have a rubber seal either and I have never had any problems with water getting inside the reel and have used it many times! It looks like Daiwa have implemented the same design and technology on the 23 Saltigas to have the same internal seal and double locking handle joint. I’ve been rock fishing my 23 Saltiga rigorously since I got it and I haven’t had any problems with the reel yet!

In other words the bearings are magsealed, so no need for the rubber seals..

Any Daiwa reels with the rubber seal under the handle does not come with main gear mag sealed bearings. That's why it has the rubber seal.

How does this compare to the Stella ?

I would say it’s a lot better as there are more newer technologies such as the screw-less tech that the Stella does not have. The Stella is quite old now too whereas the small Saltiga is newer

I’m not too sure as I’ve skipped purchasing the 15 Saltiga and waited for the 23 Saltiga.

I'm not sure either since I haven't seen one in person yet. But I have one on order. The 15 4000 is a lil power house. On paper, the 23 6000 and the 15 4000 match each other. so I'm thinking the 23 should be a similar size but better. Good choice.@@HaiFishing

What rod are you going to put the reel on?

I have two spools for it, one with PE3 and another with PE4. With the PE3 setup I’m going to pair it with my Zenaq Sonio 93M rod. With the PE4 setup I’m going to pair it with my Zenaq Accura 100H rod. The Zenaq rods feel great with the 23 Saltiga!

Got the 5000H and I’m returning it. Mine got a very big gap on the bail arm opposite to the line roller. It’s about 2mm when the bail is open and about 1mm when the bail is closed. Sands, gunks, water will definitely get in. I’m so disappointed with Daiwa’s quality since I owned a couple of them. I will post a picture soon.

SLP Works is making a custom Blue and silver reel to match that spool. I have a 6000H on order. Reminds me of the14 Saltiga Expedition 5500-8000 reel Daiwa did a while back.
