Hi everyone, I'm back just before the end of the year! Expect much more to come in 2022, after taking a break for the last couple of months. To start off I have become a Maxspect Content Partner for 2022, which is why this first video is an unboxing of their new MJ-L165 Blue LED system.

Good to see you back on the the final day of 2021! Thank you for the glimpse of your lovely dog,she's grown so much. This new blue Maxspect jump certainly gives the nano tank different pops of colour in the corals. Looking forward to the videos next year.Happy New Year.Stay safe.

Barbara! Missed your comments, but then again I didn't make any new videos so fair game haha. And yeah the dog has grown quite a bit in the mean time! The pop is definitely nice but I'm curious to see if I can get used to the blue hue all day long, let's give it some time :) Cheers and happy new year!!

Didn't know about this blue version - looked it up and I REALLY like what they are doing with the diodes to achieve the spectrum - spread looks great too. Very smart how both utilise 6 chips that have 4 colours (Red, Green, Blue and W White). I've seen Orphek utilise 2 on the one chip but this is a VERY smart to get colours we want in smaller amounts. I'd like to see them do Red, Green, UV and 25,000K white and then with the remaining 18 divide them evenly between the diodes they have so 3 each for 470, 450, 445, 410's and 460 plus I would go some 420 - 430 or something. Sure this would make them bluer but still ;) For a deeper water tank. One of the best things about Maxspect is true UV plus they come with the bracket and the bracket with the blue is SO much nicer than the normal one - hopefully they change that soon. Overall though the spectrum of these lights look amazing. Assuming the blending and the spread are good these are going to be amazing lights for LPS reefers that want that pop. As an aside your corals are looking amazing - that elegance is such a stunning coral (and for me maybe 20% of them that I see are nice and that is definitely in the top of that 20%) - it has grown massively and looks so healthy. Love how you are showing off that Yuma too. That's the thing with a tank like yours - this light REALLY shows off the colours (which to me is most important) and as a bonus it has a really amazing, broad blue spectrum. Once again Maxspect is making really great products. Their duo skimmer is, IMO, the skimmer with by far the best features on the market and this light somehow manages to get the pop a huge amount of reefers drool over, whilst providing a really broad blue spectrum plus UV - well done ;)

Looks awesome, I have the standard version looking forward to setting it up on my reefer XL200 very soon, I do like having some white as an option too but the blue looks pretty cool 👌

Sweet! The standard version might suit you better then yeah, because this one is definitely blue, even during the day :)

I can't wait for it to be available for sale. Play around with the settings and make a movie. IMO the blue version is great.

Yeah can't wait to fiddle with the settings and the app after the tank has gotten used to the new light. And agreed that the Blue version does look great at first glance!

I received my new Blue three days ago. I do have a Waterbox 20 with only LPS and put all blue channels on 70%, yellow to 30 and red to 60. No fan noise at all. And I removed Kessel (a hair dryer noise) and Red Sea Reef LED 50 (good lamp in my opinion, but a little bit louder because the fan will start eventually) Colour is a little bit better than Red Sea. Shimmer is not as good as Red Sea. I am going to keep the Maxspect because I have a Mangrove in the tank and it can do red Leds. Also it is even more quiet than Red Sea LED. Shimmerwise due to the design not as good as a single lens.

Which model do you prefer? Looking at the maxspect jump myself but not sure which model to buy. Is a whiter/natural look achievable with the blue model?

I have grown to like the BLUE version a lot, although the regular one does provide a more natural look. However if you have a lot of fluorescent corals then the BLUE version is the one to get!

I’m debating this fixture hard for a 40 breeder tank I’m setting up, not necessarily the blue version.

Hmm yeah I would definitely NOT take the Blue version for a breeder tank, other than that this light has been amazing for the past year :)

@@DutchReefer I watched your previous video on the other version, excellent stuff. It’s one of main things that brought me to consider it. I’m thinking two on a 40 breeder for coverage, tank will be softies and LPS. I’m also looking at the Maxspect Razor 150, AI Primes, or T5. These Maxspect jumps offer the best price point though from what I have seen.
