I haven't heard too many different brands but I am smitten with the IDMAX 12 I got a couple years ago. Also have an IDQ8 and its impressive for its size, plenty for a sedan sized vehicle. I even accidentally sent WAY too much power to the 8 (my first build) bottomed that sucker out and it rang like a bell. It survived and I've been sending it full power for years lol Wholeheartedly recommend Image Dynamics.

The 8s handle 500wrms on the high end. I've been running two of them one a soundstream tarantula "18000"(5krms dynoed) and have kept them at max excursion and minimum distortion many times. Toughest subs I've ever owned. Rebuilding because one overheated enough to barely rub the magnet yoke and the other's surround was damaged from something in my cargo area rubbing it.

mb bro i still got my image series 12 that has blue all metal casting basket i purchased in 1999 when i was 38 with a jl audio 500/5 now mb today nov 4 2023 that are still working as mint from 3 different cars and im 61 now , but i stashed me idq 10 for backup lol , i live overseas but imma huge fan of you channel forever brother!!!!!!

Ive run JL 12W0 and Image Dynamics ID and IDQ 12 subs many years ago, the V1. Both sounded clean tight and accurate but i preferred the images more. Always wanted to try the IDMAX subs. These days i run NVX vcw12s which sound pretty amazing also yet can do SQL and handle a lot more power. If your into SQ those 3 are good choices imo.

These are similar to the arc audio arc series subs with the arc having a little more xmax and power handling. The 10's and 12's can handle 500 rms. Eric Stevens who founded ID designed both. Also Eric still sells his hlcd's, high efficiency drivers and component sets under the name Stevens Audio. It's really good stuff.

I have 3 of the Arc series 12s in my daily cruze on a SIA-1250 wired to .67ohms. Those things get retarded in the right box.

The idq8 handles 500wrms on the high end. Mine have done it for years and still play. Have to recone because something in the cargo area damaged one cone and the other sub was lightly rubbing the magnet yoke from being overheated so many times over several years. The subs sound great, so I got the recone kit.

Man, please do a review and better yet a demo with some infinite baffle subs for SQ that have a good SPL it is hard to find any info on infinite baffle setup. I had two pioneer 12s the old TS-12 with the square magnets in the back my old coupe deVille in the 90s and I fell in love with how they sounded. I just mounted them to a 1" mfd wall I made behind the back seats and pulled all the wool insolation, the woofers looked like cheese really weak looking but man playing some Do or Die or Keith Sweat and those things pounded and sounded so clean better then my old punch 15s in a box, don't see much of anything these days in free air offerings.....

i have 1 in my rcsb truck and also had one installed in my 2020 Elantra, both vented boxes and both sound excellent. My absolute fav drivers by far. As a matter of fact, I also have their Chameleon series components in my truck as well.

I ran 2 of the old v2 idq 10s in a ported box powered by a 1501bd. Man did they slam for years until the a section of surround tore off one of them.

I have been drooling over image dynamics since the 90's. It's been hard for me to pull the trigger on them because I know what JL can do. I currently have a JL stealth enclosure in my 2010 gmc Sierra extended cad with two 10w1v3 in it powered off an Audio Control 1.800 amp. I would like some deeper bass as well as a bit more volume. I am thinking of a summertime setup with a couple 12's. I was looking at JL 12w0's and I know I would be happy, but I have always wondered about Image Dynamics. The Image dynamics have more power handling and excursion. I also noticed a high-rise slimmer profile on the surround to increase the cone area. It also appears that Image Dynamics has some excellent versatility. At least on paper. Honestly, I really want to help support them being an American company that has held on to their roots.

Bought a pair of ID12's running off a Audio control LC1.800 amp. They sound amazing. Exactly the type of bass I was looking for from a sealed enclosure. Accurate and forceful punches. Very impressed with their entry driver. I just purchased a Rockfor Fosgate T1000-1bdcp amp and am going to get a pair of Image Dynamics IDQ12v4D2 to run off it wired up to a 2ohm load. I watched your video about amplifier clarity at 2ohm and 1ohms and think this configuration and equipment will give me the best clarity with that quick low punch bass.

I run the idq8 subs and they sound great, handle loads of power and the spl is mind boggling. People at work are in disbelief they are only two 8s. I'm running a custom ported birch box from a builder on ebay, but I may build a sealed box because accuracy is better sealed.

I have two Idmax 10’s in a sealed enclosure I’ve been wanting to go ported to get more out of them And play lower But image dynamics recommends sealed over ported. I don’t I understand the why of that Can I go ported with these and tune it lower than the recommended frequency that image dynamics suggests? I’m almost tempted to go with a larger single sub of a different brand
