Shouldn't really leave it dangling by its cable when putting the bracket on the ceiling as it may damage the connector wiring, just fit the mount and then connect it up afterwards

This model doesn't have a mic, but I believe that hole is in the camera's shell for a version with a mic.

Great video. My WD2Cd2342WD1 was hacked. No camera for 2 weeks. I'd like to delete all its settings, passwords and re download the software and start from scratch. A bit advanced for me. Couldn't find any info online to do this. Any ideas?

Florick I believe you will need the S.A.D.P software. It will find your camera on the network even if your settings are incorrect. He actually explains how to get hikvision tools software in this video. Good luck.

Thanks for video. If I purchase any Hikvision (or other brand) CCTV kit on ebay, do I run the risk of not being able to receive firmware upgrades? Is this because the seller may not be an authorised reseller, or because the equipment may be Chinese version?

Hi - thanks for the video, You show haflway through a window that is remote desktop connection, What are you remote connected too? A Local DVR or PC?

That is a local PC with BlueIris recording software. It's running an i7 with tonnes of ram but BlueIris is a resource hog and it struggles to record 10 cameras at 2fps. I'm experimenting with a DVR to see if I get better and more reliable results.

newfiebort thanks for getting back to me. We've been having difficulty setting up p2p connection with the dvr. Know the system is up as we can remote view offsite via the mobile app. Just can't seem to connect via a remote pc :( good luck with your upgrade

You can remote into the dvr. If done locally (within the network) it is not called remote. What he is accessing on the monitor is the user interface. This can be accessed in your network by opening a browser (not all browsers will work you may need to try a couple, try ie first) and inputting the dvr local ip address and hit enter. If your cameras are on a external Poe switch you can access the cameras individually this way also. TO ACCESS REMOTELY: you can use the p2p connection (not advised), portfowarding (slight security risk), ddns host (highly freaking advised usually cost 1 small fee for the year). ALSO these dvr usually come with apps and connect to your mobile device, like few don't offer thus feature (major selling point). But if the apps should fail ddns or portfowarding will still function in a browser. My background, from remote surveillance system tech with global clients for a high end distributer/manufacturer to installation of sophisticated networking systems with recently sea award company.

Good question. There isn't a real need to change the port. I update it to make sure it's unique and no risk of it conflicting with the RTSP, HTTPS or Server port (found on the Configuration > Network > Port page.) It also might make hacking into the camera a little more difficult.

I believe it's 100 meters (328 feet) with a good quality cable. There is a setting on some NVR to give extra power for long cables.

@@joeydelmarsjr.646 Thanks for the insight. It is possible to run PoE over F/UTP or FTP cable with 23AWG at 10Mbps around the 800ft mark. A 10MP security camera streaming using H.264 compression at 10FPS consumes a bandwidth of 14.4Mbps. Unfortunately, FTP doesn't seem to be found in most homes or businesses. UTP is the more commonly utilized cable. I'll add this to my video list to test a PoE switch and a PoE NVR to verify at which length attenuation becomes a factor for particular Cat5/6 wire types.

The older models are 12345 or 123456. Install Hikvision Tools on a PC and if it's a newer camera it will tell you the activation status.

@@HomeTechDIY i was able to activate camera with DASP!!!hurray!!!, i even change the password for a new one, using hiktools i can see the image in the focus assistant. But i can´t access via browser, I connect and instead of image it shows a message telling me to install a plugin , i installed it and no way, no image in the browser. Do you know if it can be compatible with windows 10? Camera model is DS-2CD2332-I , so it works, i can see image in hiktools and camera resolution looks nice, but seems i can´t use it as i want, any idea if it is possible to use as webcam or to record video with any windows app?? too much questions i know but i am plenty of answers, cause i want to take profit from the camera

Awesome! Try using Internet Explorer. You will get promoted to run a plugin and then you'll need to refresh the page after it's installed. Then you will need to allow the plugin to access the live feed. I am not sure of any free apps for recording footage... Blue Iris is the software I use. They have a "lite" 1-camera licence or a multi-cam one. Hope this helps

In IE did you get prompted for any add-on when you logged into the camera. Also, 1) is your Internet Options security level set to Med-High? 2) Is Hikvision enabled in Toolbars and Extensions under Manage Add-ons? Maybe try opening IE as an Admin (right click on IE icon and select Run as Admin)

Where did you plug the other end of that cable in ? The router or the pc. ?

One end in the camera and the other goes in the PoE switch. If there is no PoE switch and you are using an adapter, it would plug into a switch or a router. Hope that helps!
