I thought I did not like bloodstones but now I realize I simply had never seen the prettier color varieties of bloodstones!
@NotAppIicabIe5 жыл бұрын
I looove jasper so much! I got me what I think is a bloodstone with waaay more red than green though. Please cover more jasper misnomers like ocean jasper, rainforest jasper, picasso jasper, Dalmatian jasper, and kambaba jasper. (To name a few)

I'd like to second this vote! There are so many different names/descriptions, I'd like to know which ones are legit!

WOW! I love this channel. I've been searching thru rocks since I was in 5th grade. I'm 37 now and this is the first time I've ever heard the term "chert".

All of the specimens were beautiful and Mom and I like Picture Jasper. I have a question which is what is Green Kiwi Quartz? Is it a trade name for Green Aventurine or something entirely different?
@gems5 жыл бұрын
It's a trade name for a green variety of quartz that has small, speckled black inclusions. To be aventurine, you need aventurescence, which is an optical phenomenon caused by inclusions of green mica.

Quartz is cool, but there is a distinct lack of feldspar on this channel. I'd like to pose some feldspars, may I suggest Labradorite?

What about Rainbow Lattice Feldspar?

I'm very happy that you did a video about Jasper. The bigger stone with the red, yellow, and white isn't by chance a Noreena Jasper is it? That's what came to mind when I saw it. Anyways keep up the good work. :D
@gems5 жыл бұрын
Hi. It is! You have a great eye!

Noreena "jasper" is a variety of mudstone.

This "Mark Rothko stone" is called mookaite. It comes from Australia and it's a radiolarian chert.
@PresidentialMask4 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure the “poppy” jasper is ocean jasper. Probably along a perennial tectonic plate
@NataliaJuliaNowak2 жыл бұрын
And "ocean jasper" is not a jasper, but a variety of rhyolite.

I appreciated learning that bumblebee jasper has arsenic in it. I have a piece in my jewelry collection and I don't think it's coated. Is it possible to put a coating on it yourself or should a professional do it?
@gems5 жыл бұрын
Hi! A professional should do this just to make sure it is done properly.

My favorite stone 💕 Question: is Unakite considered Jasper??
@gems5 жыл бұрын
Hi! Unakite is a type of granitic rock that features mottled patterns of green epidote, white to gray quartz, and pink feldspar, occasionally with black veining. Jasper, on the other hand, is a variety of chalcedony quartz.

Wait until you see a good piece of Bruneau, or poppy. When they’re good, they’re jaw dropping.

I've subscribed and watch your videos. So, I'm a fan but with just a little unsolicited advice ;) If you're going to take the time and effort it takes to produce and upload a video on jaspers, how about choosing better specimens!! You guys do a wonderful job and I really do enjoy your videos, but there are soooo many wonderfully beautiful jaspers out there...quality specimens first, eh?!! 😉 Please don't take this as criticism, just trying to help.

Hey, you know, Pokemon is starting to regain relevance. And there are lots of stones in that universe that haven't been fully covered (if at all) in this channel. Maybe talk about one of them once per week?

You've never seen the term "brecciated" before? What business are you in? BTW that piece of "brecciated jasper" is what us lapidary professionals and hobbyists call chert. Yeh, that's the real thing. How do I know without seeing it with my own eyes, holding it in my own hands, cutting it, grinding it, polishing it? Let's just say theres classroom knowledge and then theres that thing called experience.
@flimtok Жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure all of these could be called chert
