Those Tri Packs from GMT Games are simply amazing. Men of Iron, Death Valley, SPQR Deluxe, American Revoluion... all are great!

thank you so much taking the time to show the maps Love maps! If I do not like the maps I usually do not buy the game.

The value in this box is crazy. Have played Ascalon (Infidel) twice now. Surprised how simple the rules are whilst still having a huge scope for strategy and tactics. Maybe there's better scenarios to start with but I found Ascalon easy to pick up.

Still find it incredible that Towton remains the deadliest single day in English military history even when compared to the bloodbaths in WW1. Thanks for the unboxing vid, this looks great.

You are right to be incredulous re the casualty figures at the battle of Towton, they were simply made up by the newsletter chroniclers of the day. The range of figures for casualties is from 38,000 down to 10,000 - the latter number is far more likely IMO. We know the names of prominent figures who were present & too many survived that day for it to be true that there was a mass slaughter - there is no account by anyone at the battle of numbers present & other such data. The rather inventive 'reports of reports' speak of groups of men fighting each other hand-to-hand for ten hours which is physically impossible - especially in a March blizzard. I think many of the casualties were among those running away who were cornered & slaughtered with no mercy. There were corpses for miles around the official battle site as the battle fragmented quite early on into skirmishes, ambushes & plundering - a lot of hungry & thirsty troops [locusts] stealing from farmers & villagers. Here is a good read on the subject: thehistoryofparliament.wordpress.com/2020/03/29/was-the-battle-of-towton-as-bloody-as-all-that/

I enjoyed this video quite a lot. I've not played any of these medieval games but might be a nice change. Certainly a high menu of battles to choose from.... You guys do a nice job on these. Generally I'm not a fan of unboxings..."here's 2 die...there are 7 baggies...quick look at the map" etc Your's are more like previews or mini-reviews. They're actually worth my time. I'm gonna try this one. Cheers boys. Don Roberto

Sigh....on the one hand, this is an insane value and RIGHT up my alley in terms of theme and what I want with a wargame. On the other, it's an organizational/storage nightmare. But I expect that I'll end up selling a few titles and buy it eventually.

This will be baggie central (much like Death Valley last year).

Thought it would have mounted maps like the Revolutionary War tri pack. But I suppose the cost would just be too great with all the maps it contains.

I don't know that I would characterize the Men of Iron series as "quite different" from GBoH... I think the GBoH heritage is quite evident in MoI... True, the systems are not identical, but they are close cousins with how units interact in the matrix, how you want to move and approach enemy lines, etc...

No baggies or trays?!?! Or did Grant keep them?

I think seemingly none, I used my own baggies and sub baggies on this one.

I wondered why the small counter sheet had unit counters which are larger in size than the rest. Were they replacements for a previous game or something special within the rules?
@nightjarflying4 жыл бұрын
The names on the half-sheet 5/8" counters are for the nobles at the battle of Agincourt. 14:07 you can see that the small Agincourt map has large hexes compared to the other maps. Agincourt is an addition not from the original series - it's from a C3i magazine.

Paper boards..... 😰
@riff20724 жыл бұрын
This may sound crazy but the paper maps to not bother me. I forces you to place them under Plexiglas which saves the maps from damage. Caring Plexiglas around with you can be a bit challenging but.....
@strelnikoff16324 жыл бұрын
Yeah paper maps don't bother me either....use the plexi I already have and off I go. With all the maps in this one you'd need a separate crate just to ship them 😀
@NefariousKoel4 жыл бұрын
If it were just one big map, then yeah, I'd prefer it mounted on a board. However, battle games like this usually have quite a few of them. Would be an issue not only of the space that the box would take up, but a much higher price. As others have said, buy yourself one, or two matching pieces, of plexiglass to lay over them when playing. You'll be good to go.
@66morningview4 жыл бұрын
Got to agree with others, you could not make this work with mounted map otherwise you would have to have a box the size of a small stack of shelves. Mounted map for single map games, great. Anything more than one map I am happy with paper.
@caomhan844 жыл бұрын
If this had mounted boards, the box would be 12 inches thick and the game would weigh 16 lbs.
