Super. Nice set. I love the blackbonnets. Not to be that guy, but they look more like EMD F7 or F9 units. Hello from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado, where EMD F units, both cab and booster (A & B) models, still haul the railroads premium express passenger trains. 💙 T.E.N.

That is a cool set. I have seen Menards cars around Christmas time for a few years now. I wasn't sure what to think. The more I see these videos the more I think it's worth getting a couple. I REALLY like the caboose.

I like that Menards seems to have adjusted the 14:11 jump starts. The horn should be moderated a bit. I have four of these engines. Three Santa Fe intro units and a CNW. My impression: not bad.

I really enjoy the Menards trains, I have a beta 2 or 3 of the first sante fe and have enjoyed it enough that I bought the UP when it came out. The couplers on some of the cars are stiff to close as you noticed, some don’t stay coupled well, but all in all they are a great deal. I especially love this Black bonnet paint scheme, Great video!

Menards has definitely cut themselves a place in the “toy train” market for sure. Now let’s see if they produce a 3 car add on of cars with a completely different set on numbers, or single release cars with different numbers.
@modeltrainsolutions7368Ай бұрын
I ended up getting the six car dealer’s pack of the same cars. Sure enough, different set of numbers. Only drawback was the yellow ‘reflective’ markings were a different shade of yellow. I was able to mix them in, so not as noticeable. Also had to zip tie the couplers to prevent uncoupling while in motion. Agree that they are well on their way in the “toy train” market. Thanks for your comment!

You don’t see this paint combo much because the Santa Fe silver and red looks so much nicer. There is nothing different from the previous rail line names Menards offered outside of the paint. The chrome is a good selling feature it adds bling to an otherwise plain look. After all toys gotta look good to sell and be something special from what other manufacturer’s engines look like. I’ve come to like the looks of the flashy chrome.😊 The thing I really don’t like is the distance between the two engines. The couplers are way too long.😊 I could also do without vocal, electronic controls, and hand held operation.😊 Your layout looks well presented.😊

Great comments! Definitely agree with you on the length of the couplers. Thanks!

Are the trucks on the tank cars and the non powered A unit metal? How are you liking the set.... Pros/cons. I'm thinking about getting the set.
@modeltrainsolutions736827 күн бұрын
Trucks are plastic with metal wheels and axles. Overall liking this set. I was able to get the 6 dealer tank car set and have it running on my upper level of the layout toward the end of my latest video. Only con is the couplers on the tank cars are a little weak. But this was easily remedied the small black zip ties. For the price, I don’t think you can go wrong with this set. Thank you for your questions.

What scale is this? O gauge ? Is this the scale that works best with 1/64 hot wheels? Please and thank you
@modeltrainsolutions7368Ай бұрын
Scale is going to be closer to 1:43, O gauge. Hot wheels 1:64 scale would too small. Thank you for your questions.

I haven’t put a review of that out, but the cycle shop was a great addition. The size of the building was ideal for that part of my layout and the lighting was perfect.

The reason menards trucks on their modern tank cars because I had a old set of lionel rolling stock sprung trucks it fit perfectly I truly believe that lionel makes the truck for menards and mth makes the couplers I put mth knuckle couplers on and again a perfect fit

It’s a nice set but what kills it for me is the plastic gears.
@genemanno15334 ай бұрын
It is made in china, therefor shouldn’t expect much. Longevity over geneations, and quality being major issues. Plus I don’t see these trains as cost effective seeing the build quality.
@johnandrus39014 ай бұрын
Plastic gears are OK. Lionel started using them in certain applications in the 50’s. I have a 2353, with a plastic gear in the drive train. A brass gear off of the motor shaft to a plastic gear. It runs just fine. Just don’t run a heavy train with the Menard’s F’s and you’ll be fine.
@genemanno15334 ай бұрын
A quality plastic gear of Delrin w/PTFE or an IPN branched Nylon is a good gear material. But I seriously doubt the Chinese use such a quality material in their gears. Straight Nylon is too soft as is unmodified acetal. Hence I would prefer to see brass gears and steel worms. PS I only run heavy postwar trains.😊
@johnandrus39014 ай бұрын
@@genemanno1533 I’m not sure what composition the Lionel gears are. My 2353’s are seventy years old and are running just fine. Maybe this was a replacement gear on the one that I took apart. I haven’t looked at my other ones.

Can you run two engines on the same line independently? Or would you have to wire it for DCC like HO?
@modeltrainsolutions7368Ай бұрын
For 3 rail operation, yes. But, you would need to operate with two different remotes. I have a TMCC Legacy system where I can operate two different engines on the same line. There are other options as well…just depends on the brand and operating system. Thank you for your question.
