Does everyone in Minnesota own a crock pot? Are there really ten thousand lakes here? And is everyone in Minnesota nice?
We'll answer those questions plus a bunch more eh. So grab that hot dish and your fishing pole - we're gonna unbox the state of Minnesota! K?
This is an ice fisherman. He waits until the lake freezes, then drills a hole and sits around all day and drinks beer. And maybe gets a fish. This is a big deal in Minnesota. Cause there’s not a lot to do around here.
But they're not all ice fishermen in Minnesota. And they aren’t all hockey players, either. There’s a lot of people up here, believe it or not. I mean, statistically, this is the 2nd healthiest state, and the 4th smartest state too.
A lot of people don’t even know where Minnesota is on a map. Anyways, for a better analysis and a map of this state, we need to look at a rundown of the state as a whole, and then drill down into each various region.
This is Minnesota. As you can see, it has a lot going on.
We'll talk about Minneapolis, Duluth, St. Paul, hockey, hot dish, bad weather, snow, ice fishing, the Twins, Timberwolves, Wild, Vikings, the Iron Range and the North Shore.

I guess you can live in Minnesota but don’t know shit, DRUNK Indians are not only confined to that tiny box sadly we live in all areas of the state. Also we’re not all drunks. Sorry to disappoint those who still believe that stereotype. Way to go Nick Johnson you gave a great high schoolers version of Minnesota…aye! 😂😂 I’ve never met a Minnesotan who says aye at the end of their sentences. I’ve lived in Minnesota all my life and love it. I love winter, the North Shore, our many, many parks and trail systems for hiking, biking and snowshoeing, the friendly people, the wholesomeness, the entertainment, the beautiful woods and many lakes, and on and on. We always rank at the top for education, being the healthiest state, and the state that boasts the most volunteers. We have pro sport teams, and a bustling pair of large cities seven miles apart that offer a lot for arts and music. To say “there’s not a lot to do around there” is way off base.

I'm impressed you knew about the differing lake definitions between MN and WI. Minnesotans have long been a little annoyed that WI claims to have more lakes. Every time it rains in WI the number of lakes goes up since they count every puddle. Vikings fans are a bit offended that Packers fans hate the Bears more than the Vikes. As many have mentioned, "eh" is more of a Canadian thing, although it might bleed over a bit in northern MN, kind of like how Canadians love to fill MN with their coins. I think it's safe to say that nearly all Minnesotans have, at some time, tried to buy a "pop" from a vending machine and have it keep rejecting one of the coins... only to find out it's a crappy Canadian quarter (with a hockey player on it).

In regards to 'Minnesota nice', it does have some basis. It is very common in Minnesota that someone will let you go ahead of them in a food line. They will ask 'is that all you have', and if you say yes, they will let you ahead of them. This probably happens 50 percent or more of the time if your waiting in line with just a couple items. Also, there are many things put on the side of a road with a 'free' sign. Some people really do take 'Minnesota nice' to heart. I find it is the polar opposite of Florida where I came from.

I visited Minnesota earlier this year (away from MSP) and it blew my expectations out of the water! Duluth is an underrated small city with a lot to offer and the North Shore reminded me of the Pacific Coast of Washington (where I grew up) with its beautiful natural landscapes, evergreen forests and access to open water. Just FYI the bridge at 11:40 is near St Paul's Cathedral in London, England NOT St Paul, MN.

When I was growing up in the 1970's, we had a lot of neighbors that were of German descent and they would say things like "dis here" and "dat der", as in "dat der car, is that a Chevy?" No one said "eh". Great place to grow up, back then anyway.

Sounds like the way they talk around Alexandria (or "Alex" as they call it). A LOT of Germans around there. They probably had to send out a separate phone book just for all the names that start with "Sch," (Schmidt, Schneider, Schwinghammer, Schaefer, Schultz...). "Cake Eaters" a phrase coined in 1975 by my HS class. Any ways "Cake Eaters" go into the heated garage attached to the house. Drive to the heated garage beneath the building where their office is. The Twin Cities has a complex network of heated skyways that connects the second floors of buildings. This keeps the cake eaters from ever experiencing the horrors of sub zero temperatures.

I lived in Minnesota for 4 loooong years. I was dragged there kicking and screaming in my junior year of high school. My Father was transferred by his corporate masters to Eden Prairie. It was the worst experience of my life. The summers, however, were great. All three weeks of them. Otherwise, it was a living hell. I used to pass the winters by joining the slack jawed snowbillys as we drank too much and stared at a hole in the ice. My Dad bought a Kickass, Yamaha snow machine as an appeasement gesture, but then it didnt really snow for the next two years. Got the hell out of there in 1990. I can still remember the dirty snowbanks on the side of the road as I drove out of town in APRIL.
