My husband & I are considering relocating from NY to Carmel. We have two boys 10 & 14 who like sports. Would you say it's a good place to raise our boys? We want somewhere that our boys can ride their bikes to school if they want. Somewhere that has lots of kids in the neighborhoods so they can make friends.

@@ameliainzeo1634 Carmel has great schools and your kids will have a very easy time finding/making friends.... always lots of people & things to do!!! All of Carmel is VERY bike friendly. I live in the Arts and Design district (just a few blocks away from Carmel HS) - very easy to ride your bikes through all of the neighborhoods, around downtown Carmel and to school, but most kids drive themselves to the HS (or their parents drive them). You can learn as much technicals as you like, but without positive self image, you won't feel worthy of the success, so even the moment you start to do well, you will most certainly find a way to sabotage yourself and away all. Their grandfather was very hesitant though after awhile of the teens bugging him to let them try it out he agreed, but only on one condition. They must be back in 30 minutes. They all took their boots off and 2 at a time would ride on the tube. My dad would turn and throw them off the tube and they would just laugh and laugh. @MarkLada4 жыл бұрын
I was born and raised in Marion.. I left for a few years after high school but ended up coming back.. Unfortunately, most of the factories moved overseas, and the opioid epidemic hit us hard.. The south side of town is pretty rough now.. There's a lot of petty crime and drug related violence.. Growing up in the 80's and 90's Marion was a great place to live.. Now, not so much.. They only thing we have going for us in my opinion is the river, and the three huge reservoirs that are all within a fifteen minute drive.. We have some of the best fishing, hunting, and mushroom hunting, in the entire state, and for the most part only the locals know about it..
@jaenmartens56974 жыл бұрын
Mark Lada Sorry to hear that. I loved it in the mid 70s worked at Resnecks Clothing store and they had another in Wabash. The Wabash River should be an excellent canoe trip.
@MarkLada4 жыл бұрын
@@jaenmartens5697 Resnecks was before my time, but another clothing and sporting goods store moved into their old building, Spiece, and was there until the mid 90's.. Pretty much all of the mom and pop shops around here are gone.. Everything is big chain stores now.. Our mall is basically closed.. The only thing in that building now is Applebees.. We need to do something to get better jobs here.. I'm afraid Marion is going to turn into a ghost town If we don't.. The state put a lot of effort into cleaning up the rivers.. The Mississinewa, which is the river that runs through town, has turned into a world class fishery.. We get tons of people from out of town who come to kayak and fish the river.. The Wabash river, which runs through Wabash and Huntington, isn't coming around as well as the Mississinewa has.. There were just too many factories dumping waste into it.. Plus it got over ran by those invasive Asian carp..

I have lived in rural Indiana about 45 miles SW of Fort Wayne for 67 years on a chain of 7 lakes that connect to a chain of 6 lakes. I have no idea why it's not called one chain of 13 lakes. My county alone has 101 natural lakes and the deepest and largest natural lakes in the state. If you are into boating and fishing it's a paradise. Zero water shortage here.There are so many lakes that a middle class family can afford lakefront property. The difference between winters when I was a kid and now are night and day. Most years we don't even get ice on the lakes thick enough to walk on or not at all. It was 62 degrees (F) on Christmas this year. For the most part people have a live and let live point of view. I spent my career traveling and working all over the country and this is where I call home and it fits me. Thank you for your time.

C-TOS Yes, such as the so-called mutiny of the Tuskegee flyers who weren't permitted in the white officers' club at the end of WWII despite Truman's orders, and the whites only signs in Seymour. When the officers and their families were taken to Fort Knox until their court martial inquiry, Nazi officers were allowed into the whites' only club and allowed to roam free. So, yes, much like Kentucky. Ohio of the states across the river from Kentucky had the majority of Underground Railroad stations. Indiana had more Southerners, which might have accounted for the KKK running the state govt in the 1920s, and their eugenics attempts that were allegedly studied by Hitler.
