reptiles especially large lizards like monitors, tegus and iguanas do bond with each other and their owners. Treating them with respect and giving them space when they need it is the key. I have tamed down adult feral green iguanas for twenty years

How would you go about taming a young peach throat montior. She is fine with people passing by and working in her cage. Even likes to walk around the floor outside, but she hates toaching or grabbing. Seeings as this is uer only probelm i try to just touch her lightly or when shes out of the cage pick her up but not restrain her just so she gets used to it. Do you think this is a good method. I have noticed she has become less reactive but still hates being touched or grabbed. I tried using food as a motive but her food drive isn't that high so she has no intrest in chasing a bug or peice of meet on thongs

@@panzerkrieg3509 it sounds like you are on the right track. You might want to get a little closer to her every week and sit quietly and let her come explore you. Eventually you will become a "safe" scent and she will no longer see you as a potential predator. Some of the things Kenan was illustrating in this video will work too. Best authority on monitors is the guy from Nerd mentioned in the video he has instructions on doing target training and reducing feeding aggression. Good luck with your new friend. Some never become"puppy dog" friendly as their individual personalities vary. My friendliest lizard was the male Iguana in the photo. He used to seek me out, climb on me and then fall asleep. I currently have a Tegu I adopted from someone else who tolerates me but backs off after a few pets on the head. She just seems bored with me if there is no food LOL😄

@@janiceellery1653 I think their is serval ways to tame lizards. I like pointing and giving voice commands to my lizards. Having a connection with them is the main thing. I like free roaming lizards for the best "dog like feature's" they seem to learn better like that.

Nerd is one of the most amazing breaders on the planet. He puts all of his love into the animals and a big deal of time creating an animal that is fully socialized and will love you back for a vary long time.

Got my albino water monitor from NERD a few weeks ago and I can’t say enough positive things about her. Kevin at NERD is simply working magic with these animals. Quick recommendation Kenan, when they come out of the bag, holding them just for a few seconds and then just letting them be in their enclosure goes a long way to calm them down. Each interaction should be a positive one.

@@panzerkrieg3509 I wish I could provide for a monitor in general. I live in the Netherlands, so an outdoor enclosure is not an option, and I would feel bad providing anything less than a full size room to anything even near the size of a water monitor, and even that is too small imo

They all must be, because I saw one of them acting like that on a KZbin video. Therefore, everyone else from his homeland must be equally bad in the same way. Even americans find this guy to be too impatient. You have just as many impatient, greedy, cruel, and scummy humans in your country as any other. I thought Americans were supposed to be the ones that were ignorant and prejudiced and lumped everyone from a country we don't like into one group and act like we're superior, but (proving my point) it seems that people are like that where you live as well.

What a Beautiful Monitor. I’ve always wanted to keep a reptile, I have a brand new enclosure for it. Just never pulled the trigger. A Corn Snake or a Bearded Dragon has always been on the top of my list.
