Hi, the battery seems OK. If I'm out taking pics I have it on a lot and it doesn't run out. Prob about 1-2 hours for it to drop one bar (although see my last comment on the auto shut-off setting). It copes well in all light conditions. I tend not to use the flash unless I need to. I think it has optical stablization so haven't noticed any issues with hand shake. Hope that helps!

Hi, sorry just realised I was telling you about my other camera (Canon IXUS 265 HS) not the Panasonic Lumix DMC XS1. Apologies! I actually replaced the Lumix for the Canon 'cos I wasn't that impressed with the results. If you get it cheap enough it would be fine. Battery seems OK and the flash is good but I thought the detail, resolution and colours were poor. Cheers :)

I was considering lumix G6 (the interchangeable lens series) and xs1 caught my eyes when browsing the catalog, Anyhow, appreciate your honesty, i more toward picture quality. what is your recommendation if i tend to take good quality picture but dislike carry bulky DSLR size and weight?

My other cameras are the Canon 1000D (doesn't have video tho) and Panasonic Lumix GF2. I got the Canon IUX 265 HS for a more portable/compact size but still with good quality pics. I've heard good things about the Sony RX100 II as an alternative to a DSLR but I've not tried it myself. Good luck with your search!
