I have this entire set in a themed binder. The only regular card I am missing is Beast (the very first card in the set!) and I have holograms of Magneto/Wolverine/Gambit but not X-Men or Cable.

It kills me that my nephew doesn't get to experience this the way his dad and I did when we were his age. The shoppette/ gas station on the Air Force base housing where we grew up, grocery stores, Wal-Mart/ K-Mart, etc.; there were so many regular places to get these types of comic cards and comic books in addition to comic shops when we were kids. And the comic shops were so plentiful, only one of the comic shops we went to as kids is still around. Kids on the playground at school would be wearing the Marvel t-shirts you could order from inside the comics, we all had comic action figures, we'd be talking about the new episodes of X-Men and Spider-Man and Batman the Animated Series we saw on Saturday mornings. There was always some sort of promotion for comics tied into the stuff kids liked: Kool-Aid had exclusive Marvel t-shirts and subscription offers with Kool-Aid points, Crunch and Munch had an awesome Marvel poster you could send away for, Eskimo Pies had Spider-Man trading cards you could cut from the back of the boxes or send away for, Nerds candy had X-Men cards you could cut from the boxes, Charleston Chew had that exclusive Marvel comic with Wolverine and Jubilee on the cover that you could send away for with 50 cents and a wrapper. Pizza Hut had X-Men exclusives along with being able to buy VHS tapes of X-Men TAS episodes. None of it exists in that way for him.

I mean, kids in modern day have even cooler stuff arguably. Yeah card + comics shops have mostly been lost but they have things we never could. Mostly electronic/software stuff but there are benefits to that too.

Wow! 1st grade nostalgia with the X-Men cards. They were so popular that they tried to ban them at my school. I remember trading a few dinky cards for Master piece cards to those that didn't know better. Pogs took over the next year, but I liked X-Men cards. Pogs were something I bought just to do what everyone else was doing, I think.

If you grade some of them they may be worth some more. But I'd recommend not doing this to the cards you did here 52:19 that is a no no in the Trading Card world if your trying to grade and resale. Use to collect cards as a kid and still have them, never read comics as a kid but loved the cartoon and art on the cards. I think you should make the unboxing the main picture and your reaction as the smaller picture. It was harder to see the cards. Basically, reverse the videos.
