Coming from someone who has been strictly a lever action guy, I just picked this up and can’t wait to give er hell. As a Navy vet I trained on an M4 and never liked them. A few years out of service and what’s going on in America I appreciate these rifles more than I ever have. 30 rounds is a better than 7.

Great rifle. Got mine about a year and a half ago. $799.99 but I'm pretty sure the price has gone up a fair amount since. Got 2000 rds through it thus far. No failures. Even a casual/recreational shooter like myself was able to sight in a Sig Red Dot optic to make it a decent tack driver. Being blind in my right eye, the ambi features are fantastic for me and the brass deflector keeps me from spitting out spent casings when shooting it wrong handed. It was my first AR and I agree it's a good entry level rifle for the price. Plenty of good ARs out there for under $1000. Sure, the high end Daniel Defense or Wilson Combat rifles are great if you afford one and good on you if can but the Sig M400 Tread will not fail you.

I acquired one this year (2023) that I won on an NRA raffle. Cost me 50 bucks. They don't include the manual anymore, you have to get it on-line. Didn't include the yellow mloc panels either. I installed a tru-glow 4x tactical scope. Needed to install a 1/4 inch riser to get the correct scope height. Just got it broken in so I've only got about 50 rounds thru it at this point. So far I have no complaints. I do think it's more accurate with 5.56 55 or 62 grain ammo than using 223. Just my observation.

Nice rifle, i just dont like how little pic rail is up top. Mounting an Eotech 512 with a magnifier is doable, but tight. The 512 can overhang the handguard of course. Come on Sig, run the rail down the whole way so people can mount optics with a mag, or an lpvo, and use back up irons

My opinion is that this was definitely going after anyone who doesn’t own an AR but wants to get into them. If you do own one and have upgraded things on it such as grip, handguard, safety selector...etc. I’d say just build one you want for much cheaper.
@justinlopez40243 жыл бұрын
@@GunBoxTherapy I got a M&P 15 Sport 2 back in 2019 when they were crazy cheap. It's dead stock, Ive only mounted a Romeo 5 dot. It's just a cheap plinker, the only thing I'd upgrade is the pistol grip. Building honestly does look like the best option, especially when it comes to beating these outrageous prices. If I were to buy another rifle right now, It'd probably be a Zastava zpap just because its "cheaper" to shoot compared ARs at the moment. Budget AR15s like the Sport 2 and Tread being borderline $1k is ridiculous.

When you look at the price and the upgrades that are included in the box and then the materials used in the barrel and BCG, I definitely would call it a very good entry level rifle. Sig also markets it as such. Don’t get me wrong, it is a GREAT rifle but I wouldn’t call it “top tier”.

@GunBoxTherapy2 жыл бұрын
You can attach another muzzle device to the barrel. The muzzle device on this example is not designed for use with a suppressor.
@nateb93462 жыл бұрын
Get yourself an AR tool, place the rifle on a chair with the barrel hanging off the seat. Sit on the AR and use that as leverage to remove the factory flash hider, replace with a Surefire warcomp and you have yourself a suppressor ready sig.
@vladimirnekic324111 ай бұрын
To do this right, you will need to make sure you have an "adjustable" BCG (Bolt Carrier Group) for a Suppressor... so, yes, you can have it on the Sig, you just need to replace another part. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJ7LlKZpadeMicksi=3M7aqRHyQPtD6q7B&t=661 Also, look into adjustable gas blocks. @GunBoxTherapy2 жыл бұрын
It’s super easy man! Just go slowly and don’t let anything pop out and launch somewhere. lol. So, first step is ensure it’s safe. Okay. Now push out your rear takedown pin and your front pivot pin. With the bolt forward now remove the upper. The following steps will all be done with the magazine well to your left. Now. You’ll see your hammer and it should be locked in the rearmost position. Now place the safety on fire and with your other hand hold the hammer and DO NOT let it slam forward. Pull the trigger and slowly guide the hammer forward. Next, there are two pins on the side of the receiver. One that’s closer to your bolt release paddle and one slightly lower than it but to the right. These two pins during both installation and removal are driven on from this side (the left side of the receiver) and out of the other side. You can go the other way but it’s much easier this way. Now drive that pin out that’s closer to the bolt release paddle. Your hammer may want to work itself out just hold on to it with your hand. And pull it out with its spring. Now drive the other pin out that’s lower and to the right of that pin your just removed. Here you will find that this isn’t under so much spring tension but you may be left with two parts. Your trigger shoe and your disconnector. Place these old parts aside but keep them just in case. Now if your new trigger is an enclosed unit, the rest will be easy. Just place it in and push those pins back. If it isn’t then you will want to look up a video on installation as springs need to be placed in a certain orientation that’s hard to convey via text. Im gonna link you this Larry Potterfield video on FCG installation. Good luck man! After you do it about 3-4 times, you’ll be a pro and start teaching others. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJ2nc6yIgZ5gmdE

It is which leads me to believe either the materials are different types of alloys or the anodizing is done separately which would give you shade variations.

Wouldnt any AR be good for a new shooter. I fuckin hate when people say that shit.... "Oh yea its good gun for just starting out..."
@GunBoxTherapy2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t say any AR would be good for starting out. What I mean when I say that comes down to reliability, build quality, ergonomics and feel. Reliability for a new shooter is extremely important as they are going to expect it to work upon using it. Build quality is dimensioned typically as total price decreases. So the Tread strikes a balance in high build quality for a slightly higher price tag. Ergonomics and feel. This is probably the most important thing to a new shooter and they don’t even know it yet. The upgraded grip and stock (2 of the three things that contact the body when shooting) on the Tread are worlds better than the standard A2 grip and stock. So yes, when I say this is a great AR for those starting out, I believe it’s true for those reasons. And your typical experienced AR owner as they learn about metallurgy within BCGs and barrels, better handguards, furniture setups they like in terms of ergonomics…they will most likely gravitate towards higher end ($1500+) or just build their own piece by piece.
