I quilt, crochet, knit, and embroider. Not sure which I enjoy most, but I do love the process and learning new things/techniques. I just started slow stitching…a kawandi piece…and it is sooo enjoyable as well as relaxing. Your channel, Miriam, is a wonderful place to visit. You are an impressive young woman.

That “doctor bag” closure is so handy, as it keeps the bag wide open. I’ve used those in makeup/bathroom pouches, and in larger travel totes.

Didn't know there was a name for it. 😅 Last Christmas I crocheted afghans formy grandchildren. This year the parents bet them. I have an embroidery kit in line to do for my daughter. When I was about your age (I'd guess), I used to teach all sorts of handwork. All of the above plus knitting, counted cross stitch, crewel work and anything else you could think of. I made up little kits, wrote out a pattern and went out to a fun night of crafting.. Women would gather their friends, pay $10 each and I would teach whatever the chosen craft was. Totally fun and helped put food on the table. Double win.

@@StitchObsessed BTW. No "real" crafty people in the family. I grabbed books and taught myself everything. Only thing I never got to, but always wished I had, is tatting. Tatted lace looks so amazing.

@@donnaking-royal431 I hear you! Nobody is really crafty in my family either. Well my dad is really good at building things; he’s got an engineer’s brain; so growing up I watched and “helped” him build a lot of stuff. It’s actually surprising how much quilting and woodworking have in common! And tatting! Yes! I’ve seen video of women making lace, and wow 🤯 that is an incredible skill. It’s not too late, right!? 😉

I like that you say "that's okay" I'm glad the bag worked. I think its awesome. Hand embroidery is like hand sewing to me. Um, no. So I bought an embroidery machine. I have knitted some, crocheting is beyond me, I can crochet a chain. I have spool knitting I started when I was 9 yrs old.. Its an ongoing project. That is my extent of yarn works. I do make dresses for my grand daughter and like doing all kinds of crafty things.

Loved this chat! I’m also a multipassionate crafter (I sew garments, I quilt, I have a Cricut machine) and I’m so on-board with your philosophy about perfection. I’m running a quilt-along on my channel right now and I keep repeating it « we’re not going for perfection because there is no such thing ». When I first started quilting, I was almost traumatized by the « quilt police » LOL That was not fun!

Oh yeah, PS (lol) my dream thing or whatever you want to call it is too learn how to sew clothes for my sweet 7 month old Granddaughter. So, I ordered a Simplicity Easy To Sew pattern of a simple lil romper. It arrives yesterday and I'm all excited about it. Open it, start unfolding this tissue like paper, spread it out, found what I thought was the English part and OMGOSH I panicked. I couldn't tell heads or tails about any of it. NONE ! I folded everything back up, put it back in the envelope and down in a junk drawer. I felt so defeated. Now I'm on the search for a "Pattern for Dummies" and that doesn't assume I know all this terminology. SMH I need a step by step video tutorial to get me started because I'm definitely a hands on learner. I can crotchet but can't read a pattern. Show me how and I'm good to go. LOL Sorry for the long replies. 😊

@StitchObsessed6 ай бұрын
I do not. I have in the past, but I never really saw any advantage to prewashing. And then I would have to press all the fabric because it would get super wrinkly lol 😂 Some quilters always prewash though! It’s one of those personal preference steps.
