Brilliant. Enjoy it. I will be really interested in how you get on with this. I have a Liberty 43. To use on half an acre! They are brilliant. But very heavy. And despite the split rear roller - any moisture in the soil and you will risk tearing the lawn up. Be warned. I actually bought a Hayter Hawk 43 to use when conditions are just so. I can still get a half decent stripe with less risk of damage. I now use the Hayter to take the majority of growth off. And then trim the tips with the liberty. Looks brilliant. You have the six blade cylinder- as do I. I use the Hayter on setting 3. And the liberty follows on a setting of 4. The stripes are brilliant. I have seeded with rye the past two years. But there is native bent and fescue in the lawn too. If you plan on cutting 20mm and below Allert recommend a 10 blade cylinder. I bought one. And as yet it remains unused. As I say. Enjoy it. But be really careful - especially on the new lawns. All the best. Regards Chris.

Cheers mate 👍🏻 I know what you mean about it being heavy - weighs an absolute tonne! I guess it's great having both as you get the best of both worlds. It would have been more ideal me having the Hayter Hawk 43 as the stripes would be same width 😅 Good shout about the 10 cylinder cartridge too.

@@NoviceGardener Good luck. I genuinely want you to smash it out the park. They do take some maintenance. After use always spray the blades with WD40 or something similar. And when it comes to winter. Give it a massive clean. And preserve it as best you can. If you notice the drive slowing down. It’s a simple fix to adjust. Keep on top of the bottom blade versus the cylinder adjustment (paper test). It’s easy but very important. Your blades will last longer. And more importantly cut sharper and better. I wish I’d known all this when I started! 😂😂

Nice one buddy, I’ve had the liberty 43 for a couple of years, I think the Cambridge replaced the liberty 43. Definitely think about getting the verticut cartridge with the bent fescue lawn… and if you do, take the grass rake off completely as it’ll dig it..only took me a year to realise that 😂..

I would like to get that mower but I don't have a garage to store it. Right now I use a manual one that I store outside under a cover right now . I used the hayter on the front lawn as it's made up of 3 small weirdly shaped islands due to paths. How often are you watering the new lawn? I always do it once a day. 2-3 times a week deeply and then a light misting in the mornings so that it doesnt dry out and go dormant. Sometime twice a day around the hard surface edges as they really heat up in the peak of summer. I keep it looking the same all year cut at 20mm. Leaving it get long seems to bring issues especially is its fertilized .
@NoviceGardener5 ай бұрын
I've pulled back on the watering as I noticed some slight disease in a couple of places, but I think that was more to do with the amount of rain we've had up this way in the past few weeks. It seems to have recovered this week though. NExt week looks decent so will probably water it a couple of times a week, but will just depend on how hot it gets. I'm cutting at the same height. Keeping it at 20mm now. Seems a good height and stripes still look class!

@@NoviceGardener Provonto spray worked well when I had fusarium and read thread. The fescue in one lawn would always get red thread at the end of spring until atumn. provonto fixed that after 2 weeks. It doesnt damage the grass either. I used the entire 1l bottle over a few spots lol.

And there’s you indulging me on my Webb comment on your previous video, all the while you had this bad boy enroute. Very nice mate - I’m also considering this next year myself. Was considering the Cobra Fortis, but it has to be Allett doesn’t it. Looking forward to seeing future videos with this mate. And congrats on the up and coming wedding. Oh, and be honest. Did you tell the misses EXACTLY how much the Cambridge cost or did you shave a few pounds off 😉. As another subscriber mentioned - you’ll not be the novice much longer 🤙🏽

Ah, cheers mate! That was my same thought process - I wanted a cylinder mower, but I think I actually wanted an Allett 😅 I started by telling her it was about 2 grand and when she asked what that meant, I just said add 5% more (hoping it would be less of a shock) 🤣

@NoviceGardener5 ай бұрын
I've not found that to be honest. I should have my first impressions video out next week. It's actually fairly easily to manoeuvre around. Much easier than the rotary I use as it has quite a big grass box which makes turning tough in tight spaces.

Have you considered just getting the hayter hawk like Novice uses? I got one this year and it's a great all-rounder for most people. Much cheaper than a cylinder and very practical. Might be a good compromise if you can't justify going in to the thousands! 👍
@SuperChalkster5 ай бұрын
@@martinlogan8329 yeah i have looked into it, its like i ideally want a allett cylinder but a battery powered hayter rotary would be the next best thing i suppose, i actually would prefer a makita over a hayter as i have the batteries already for power tools. but striping is important to me and i couldnt find a makita with a roller only a flap. maybe ill get an allett cylinder somewhen not told myself i defo wont yet, its just a lot of money for a mower. im far from rich but i could comfortably afford it, i just have a higher value of money to some meaning i i could win a million on a scratch card and it would still hurt spending 2k + on a lawn mower. i mean its not like im mowing wimbledon centre court. lol
@martinlogan83295 ай бұрын
@@SuperChalkster yeh I understand completely. But I'm guessing you appreciate working with quality tools, as you're a makita guy and not Ryobi for example. Think you'd be really happy with the stripes on a hayter, for £600 ish. Or just get a manual cylinder?

@@martinlogan8329 i need to do abit more work in my garden with fencing etc, my lawn is looking nice, i scarified overseeded and top dressed with sand/soil for leveling last autumn and april just gone, ive given it a feed and i mow twice a week, the average person would say it looks great, but since i got into lawn care watching youtubers im striving for perfection and im just not going to achieve that with my lawn unless i do a factory reset. too many grass types, i have a lot of couch grass, strange to think these amercians love the stuff looks horrid up against fine fescues. as i said most people look and say its green looks healthy well cut but i pick all the different grass blades out taking pictures on plant apps etc. haha. anyway maybe once my garden is sorted out and i reset the lawn i may invest in a allett, just following the path of novice really but not intentially.
