I recognize that accent. Liverpool here. Thanks for the tips. Gonna compost my lawn soon as well as aeration. Can see it helps looking at yours.

Mate, to use language that you’ll appreciate, your garden on a whole is looking super boss - massive improvement. Somebody also mentioned this, but definitely get yourself a pair of edging shears. I recently made the switch and they give great results.

Super boss, like it! 🤣 Going to hopefully pick some up in a few weeks. Can see why it gives a much cleaner cut, especially on a smaller space that should take too much time to edge 👍🏻

Even a wire brush and 30mins work would get rid of much of it. Rain will then wash a lot off to clean it up and it reduces over time.

The lawn is looking superb, have you managed to stop your dog from peeing on it?
@TogunRaby6 ай бұрын
Pretty sure its salt from the bricks. We live in a new build and it appears constantly, usually a wash with a hose cleans it off easy.

Ive had a creeping fescue lawn for years and a mistake i made was overfeeding. Creates alot of thatch, sward was too thick which suffered from red thread. Recommend regular vertical cutting.

To be honest, he’s quite good. He only wees on the plants around the perimeter. I don’t mind having a few burn spots around the edges. Just as long as the majority is decent. The first year we had him, he was a nightmare and almost killed the whole thing off. But just really strict with him in the garden now. He’s only allowed to relax, not play 🤣 he gets that in the field instead of

Looking really great, I'd use some edging shears instead of a strimmer and an edging cutter to neaten the edges alongside the wood edging to keep it all square and tucked in. Anyway, I'm nobody to advise as I'm more novicerer than thou :D

Wouldn't say the cylinder mower is 4x better cut quality v hayter..price comparison wise.....looks good mind. Is it ever used or just a show garden?
@NoviceGardener6 ай бұрын
That's true! It's a shame cylinder mowers are the price they are. We use it all the time, but if you mean the lawns, we don't have kids yet, just a dog who would rather sleep on the grass rather than run on it 😅
@grahammacklam47366 ай бұрын
The turf on the top tier looks great or as said in Liverpool, (my wife is from Garston) that's boss that. It's interesting what you mentioned regarding products. If I told you most things you apply are already present in the soil, would you be surprised?
@NoviceGardener6 ай бұрын
Cheers 👍🏻 And you're bang on. Some are some cracking lawns out there that just have the perfect soil biology! Hoping the roots of the bent/fescue will start to improve the soil profile over the years.

Top is looking really good! It's strange that at 20mm there are blade much longer than that. My front lawn is very upright at around the length of my thumb nail at most. I'm using the hayter though so I guess it doesn't get rolled down before getting cut, also it sucks before the cut unlike a cylinder. The bottom looks really good too. Maybe slightly yellow but newly sown grass will be like that until the roots develop. Mines looking ok but I'm waiting to give it a proper feed at half rate soon. I posted a video if you are interested.
@NoviceGardener6 ай бұрын
That's true, the front roller tends to flatten it before being cut. Your lawn looks incredible - just watched the video. Results are superb. That's it, I think I may go bent fescue on the front too 🤣
@stevenbelcher56586 ай бұрын
@@NoviceGardener Thanks a lot! You can't beat the look of a bent fescue lawn. I prefer 90% fescue seeds for a finer look but it depends on the soil. My back lawn is 60% fescue seeds as I'll be landscaping it in the future and using a soil mostly made of rootzone sand.

Lawns coming along nicely bud. You didn’t show it, I’m sure you did… but watch that lawn rake on the Allett as you lower the cut. It wants to be a good 2mm (if the lawn is nice and flat) higher than the rollers, otherwise it’ll dig in and damage the turf. 👍
@NoviceGardener6 ай бұрын
